•CHAPTER SEVEN•
I stood there, dumbfounded. "So the God of the Underworld doesn't know why his beloved is a human girl? A mortal?"
"I didn't know it was possible. The smallest things that would feel like a baby slap to me could kill you. Mortal beings are unfortunately weak and therefore require extra care.." he pauses, chewing on his bottom lip before nodding to himself, "Maybe that's why. I must have some purpose with you."
My mouth drops open and I stand up straight, crossing my arms. "Well, I don't need a baby sitter. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself, thank you very much."
He glances at me, puzzled. "You are welcome?"
I sigh, pinching the bridge of my nose. "I'm assuming that even if I deny all of this, and I have any means to escape, you'd know and you wouldn't let me go.."
He ponders over my words for a bit, pursing his lips. "I suppose you're right. We have grown closer in your dreams, and I don't have any intention of letting you go. You're..interesting."
I run a hand through my hair, plopping down onto my bed as an exasperated breath leaves me. "But what about my friends? My dad?" I inquire, staring up at the ceiling.
"You could always tell them goodbye."
Great. That should work out perfectly.
An anxious feeling hits me immediately, crawling over my body like tiny cloaked insects. "Um..I don't think they'd let that slide. What would I even say to them?" Hey, I'm leaving to the Underworld with Hades. Yeah, I'm his beloved.
"You could say exactly that. They'll believe you're absolutely ridiculous and not in the right mindset, and perhaps they'd leave you to wither in your own craziness." He rises to his feet, stretching as a yawn leaves his mouth.
I stay silent, turning my gaze back to the ceiling. Do I always say things out loud?
He releases a sharp breath. "Sheesh, look at the time. Have you made up your mind yet or do I have to choose for you?"
"I'm still thinking." I replied quietly.
"You have until midnight. Then, you're coming along with me to the Underworld my dear."

I left a note for my father, explaining that the dreams had come back to me again. That I knew what he was trying so hard to keep me from. I promised him that I was okay and that I'd visit him.
I didn't want to feel as though I abandoned him, but it sure seemed that way. First my mother, and now me. The two women in his life that meant everything to him, even though he had a hard time showing it. But, I kept repeating to myself that I'd come back. That I never really left, and that he's not alone.
As for my friends, I tried to explain to them that I had this extended program outside of school that I was involved in. And, that it also required me to travel for long periods of time as it was related to a college career that I had planned to pursue.
Aly, of course, was skeptical at first. Especially with the taller than average Greek god—literally—standing and waiting for me by his wonderful, expensive sleek car. She even went as far to ask me if this "program" had anything to do with the mafia.
