•CHAPTER SIXTEEN•

Looking in the mirror, I couldn't believe who was staring back at me. Who being the keyword.

I was barely recognizable with highlight adorning my cheeks, and contour bringing out my most pleasurable features. I looked older, and more mature. My hair was straightened from being curly, now falling down in gentle waves. A nude coat painted my lips, pairing with the gentle makeup on my face.

"Now, for the dress."

A shimmery dress was placed on the silk black sheets of the bed, the reflection of the lights creating a golden glow.

My eyes widen at the beauty of it, calling to me as if it was a siren and I a pirate.

I stand from the chair shakily, my heart racing in my chest. I could stop it all right now. I could tell him that I couldn't do this. That I wouldn't be introduced to his kingdom. The evil that lurked in the Underworld was something I couldn't fathom. I haven't even seen the half of it.

But, the bond that kept pulsating between us was stronger than my doubts. And for that, I disliked the power it had over me. It was as if I had no control over my thoughts; my being. Him and I were just right and that was all it needed. It erased all self-doubt and insecurity. Allowing me to feel secure in the notion that it would always be there. Humming and buzzing with energy.

"Miss?"

I snap out of my thoughts, whipping my head to the young woman that assisted me in getting ready.

She smiles at me patiently, her dark purple hair framing her face in waves. Everyone here was so beautiful, and I've noticed that they have all represented one thing: the garden.

The garden was full of extraordinary colors. Anything you could think of, and it would be there. Everyone that I haven't encountered has reminded me of the sight of the garden. It was uncanny, to say the least.

"Yes. I'm sorry. I'm just..nervous," I blow out a breath, taking a step towards the awaiting dress.

She crosses her hands in front of her, nodding her head. "It is a big step. You're being introduced to King Hades' kingdom. As the Queen."

My hands sweat with anticipation as I hang on to every word that tumbled out of her mouth. Her eyes widen as she glances at me.

"Are you alright? You look a little pale."

I swallow, moisturizing my suddenly dry throat.

"Just peachy," I mumble, leaning down to grab the dress.

I pick it up carefully, afraid to drop such a masterpiece. I hum in surprise, expecting it to feel heavier. It was light, and the material felt soft.

"There's only a few more moments before he's seated and ready for you. I'll leave you to it." She bows before walking out, shuttling the door quietly behind her.

I release a deep sigh, undressing to slide into the dress. It fit me like a glove, molding onto my body as if it was made just for me. Maybe it was.

Walking over to the golden shoes that matched the dress, I hold them in front of me.

There was no way I would be able to wear these without busting my ass. It had to be at least four to five inches long.
