•CHAPTER FORTY-ONE•

I come back with a sudden pain in my chest, one that kept spreading like wildfire down my entire body. I needed to move. I needed to see him.

Hades stands in front of me, a worried expression on his face. "Samira? What just happened?"

Dazed, I let my gaze slide over to his wide eyes. "Uyate. Where is he?"

I was angry, and this deep, dark part of me wanted blood.

He begins shaking his head, "No. I ca-"

"Hades!" I bark, desperation in my voice, "This is serious. Do not doubt me on this or treat me like a child!" I snap, my chest heaving.

His jaw ticks and he straightens up, his eyes growing cold. "Okay."

Okay?

I open my mouth, just to close it again in surprise. Well, shit.

"Let's go."

He leaves the room quickly, his long strides making it hard to catch up with. But I felt determination like no other, and I would get the truth. No matter how difficult it became.

Soon, we travel to the area around the palace. In the middle of the forest, where we come across a clearing. Much like the one I saw in...in my vision.

"Hades?"

He doesn't turn around to look at me, but the small tilt in his head indicated he was listening.

I gulp, "Who was that woman? The one painted on the ceiling in the center room before your office?"

He tenses, the fast stride he had slowing.

"Why do you ask?" He inquires tightly, almost as if he was afraid to say.

I pause in my steps, "Hades, please. I just need to know. I promise, later on I will tell you everything."

He sighs, whirling around to look at me. "It's Demeter. She'd always be a constant reminder, of how I lost her dear daughter. Persephone."

"W-what?" I don't feel too good.

His eyebrows furrow and he takes steps to me, reaching out to take ahold of my arms. "Are you alright? You've gone pale."

I clear my throat, shaking my head as if that would cure all.

"Y-yeah, we should go." I pull away from him, continuing walking straight.

Soon, he falls into place with me and we walk together, past the tall, dark trees and whispering voices until we reached a dark colored lake.

It was everything out of a horror movie.

The grass around it was dead, seeming to trace the outside of the long, wide river. Skulls rested at the brim, some hidden beneath the dirt. And the smell, oh the smell. Not only did it stink of death, but I'm pretty sure it could bring death to those who inhaled strong enough.
