"What are you guys doing here?" Carrie asks us as both Sam and I continue to stand in silence and pure shock that she's even here.

"W-what are you doing here?" I ask her.

"I'm here for a meeting with Maurice. How do you guys know each other?" She asks curiously.

Before I could answer, Sam and I hear Maurice answer as he comes walking out and stands between Sam, me and Carrie.

"Oh, you all know each other?" Maurice asks her.

I didn't trust him as he winks at me which tells me not to worry but I am really afraid that he will tell her everything.

"I'm visiting my cousin Sam." He smiles as he walks over to her and puts his arm over her shoulders.

Carrie at first looks at me, then Maurice, Sam and then back at me again.

"Oh. Why didn't you tell me your cousin was in town?" Carrie asks Sam.

"I don't know." Sam shrugs with a nervous laugh.

"Well, since we all know each other, why don't you come over for dinner tomorrow night?" Carrie asks him.

Sam and I both look at each other with worried looks.

"Honey, I don't think we should..." I start.

"No, it'll be perfect." Carrie smiles at me and then looks back at Maurice.

"I would love to. Thank you." He says.

"Good." She replies with a smile.

I'm not exactly sure what just happened. How the hell did he get invited over for dinner to our house? Carrie has no idea in who Maurice really is and in fact, I'm gonna tell her tonight and then maybe this way, she can also cut ties with him as a client. I know what I'm risking telling her but, I have to. I just hope she'll listen.

"Alright, well, Carrie, if you would like to wait for me in my office here, I'll see these two out and be in there to go over some ideas." Maurice says. "Are those samples?" He asks as he just realizes that she's holding a platter of samples as does she.

"Oh, that's right. Yeah, they're samples." She says with sudden realization.

"They look delicious." He comments.

As she walks past me to go into the office, I can't help but want to stop her and tell her everything right here and now but I know I can't. I don't have a weapon and know that we are out numbered by a lot. So I just look at her and she smiles at me.

Maurice walks both Sam and I outside to our car that one of his men has gotten and drove up for us.

"Well, that was interesting." Maurice smiles.

I turn around to look at him.

"Leave her out of this." I start to ask of him.

"No. She's catering my event. Besides, we wouldn't want her to know the truth in what kind of favor you both are doing, right?"

"Come on." Sam says as she stops me from taking a swing at him and holds me back.

"I swear if you do anything to her or my family, I'll fucking kill you." I tell him thorough gritted teeth.

He just laughs at me along with a couple of his guys standing beside him.

"You always did have guts." He laughs. "Now get the hell off my property before I get upset." HE says while turning around and walking back into the house.

"Come on. Get in the car." Sam tells me as she opens the passenger side door and runs over towards the driver side and starts to peel out of the driveway.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" I yell out as I punch the glove compartment several times and break some skin on my knuckles.

"Stop it!" I hear Sam shout at me.

"I can't believe all of this is fucking happening right now! I should have just told her just now and told Maurice to fuck off." I yell out.

I jerk as I feel her stomp on the brakes and pulls off to the side of the road.

"Now listen to me. You and I both know what he is capable of. We've seen what he has done to some of our friends back in high school. And as much as I hate that Carrie is part of this now, she is and my cousin will stop at nothing to make sure that he gets what he wants. So it's better that we just play along and get this shit over with." She tells me.

"But I can't just sit back and watch all of this happen and not tell Carrie or at least try and warn her. I love her and know that she deserves to know." I protest.

"I agree but we need to come up with a solid plan first." She suggests.

After thinking about it for a little while, I nod in agreement to her idea. She's right. Things will be a lot worse if I tell her right now about everything. But there needs to be some way at least that I can try and make sure her and Bessie are both safe because I do not trust Maurice at all.
