If I Awake

Chapter 5

Harry promised me he wouldn't leave my side, that he is going to be there through everything. But that's something I fear, if he's there he's going to see how bad it all gets and then what if after he see's it he won't want to be around any longer. I fear that so much. 

When I wake up, next to me on my night stand I see breakfast on a try and my medicine along with a glass of orange juice. I smile as I sit up in the bed. Harry left a note on the tray as well.

It read,

Good morning Melanie, I hope you slept good. If I'm not there it's because I'm at the store but I'll be back so don't worry. I know how much you'll miss me, anyways here's breakfast and your medicine. I hope you enoy it because I helped make it, if you don't like it then just know I didn't make any of it.

I smile and sit the note down, I get up to use the bothroom and then come back to take my medicine and have breakfast. When I finish I take the tray downstairs and mom, dad and Aron are all in the kitchen.

"Goodmorning Meli." My dad says with a smile.

"Morning dad."

"How did you sleep?"

"Good." 

"I mean did you sleep?" My dad laughs.

"Yes dad, I slept, Harry is very respectful of the house rule and you and mom. He slept in his cloths and everything."

"He's seems really nice, I like him." Mom says after taking a sip of her coffee.

"he'sa really great guy, I like him a lot."

"So that means we're going to be seeing a lot of him huh?" Dad says.

"Yes, probably."

"Good." Dad says and it catches me off gaurd, I didn't think he'd be okay with me having a guy around that I like and that likes me.

"Good?"

"Yeah good."

"You like that he will be around?" I ask.

"Yes I do, he's a very good guy and him and I get along really well."

"Aw John you like Melanie's boyfriend."

"Hey Aron."

"What?"

"Shut up.Yes I like the boy, in just a matter of days he's made my daughter happier. Don't you remember last time when she found out she had to do chemo again? She didn't come out of her room for days and she was crying constantly. So yes, if this boy is having a good effect on her then he's welcome in my house. As long and he keeps his cloths on and you too Melanie."

"Dad! You know I wouldn't do that and he wouldn't either, he has way to much respect for us."

"Good, because I'd hate to have to get Aron to hurt him." We all laugh and talk about everything thats going to happen when my chemo starts. We hear a knock on the door and then we hear Harry asking if it was okay that he comes in. We laugh and tell him and tell him we're in the kitchen.

"Good morning Melanie, how was breakfast and how did you sleep?" Harry asks while hugging me.

"Good morning and I slept great and breakfast was really good."

"I made it so I knew it was going to be." He laughs and my mother shakes her head, we sit at the island on the bar stools next to Aron and my father and Harry jump right into a conversation.
