~(y/n's) POV~
I gathered a quick overnight bag, and pulled on a new outfit for the ride. I didn't feel like struggling with my contacts, so I just put on my black rimmed glasses. I wore a white shirt, with overall shorts and my white converses, and white knee high socks. I left my hair down as I threw my bag over my shoulders, and headed downstairs. I told hunter to let mother know that I'd be gone over night, because a friend needed help with a project, in which she didn't reject, thankfully.
After about ten minutes I was told that my ride was here, and I gleefully went outside, approaching the limo that contained the host club.
"(Y/n)-Chan! You look so cute!" Honey ran out to give me a hug, and I smiled, hugging the small boy back. "Thank you, Honey!"
He led me back to the limo, and let me scoot in beside Haruhi as he placed himself on my other side, and we began driving.
"So, (y/n), do you like the beach?" Tamaki began with light conversation. I nodded, smiling.
"I do, I haven't been since I was a child, so I'm really happy you invited me." I grinned to him, causing the blonde to lightly blush.
"N-no problem."
"So Haruhi-" Kaoru began to the brunette.
"Are you going to actually wear a swimsuit this time?" Hikaru finished.
"I don't know, guys."
"You two better stop harassing my little girl!" Tamaki launches at them, but was quickly stopped by Mori. "Not in the limo." He stated simply, as Tamaki huffed.
I giggled at them, as Haruhi just smirked at their antics.
"Yes, I'd rather you not destroy my limo, Tamaki." Kyoya stated with annoyance clear in his voice. The twins laughed, picking fun at Tamaki as he continued to pout more.
The rest of the drive was filled with small talk and occasional car games to pass the time. We eventually made it to the beach house, where we all made our way inside and began to pick out our rooms for the night. Mine was beside Haruhi's, the last one on the hall. For a beach house, it was pretty big, though I'm not surprised with it being Kyoya.
It was already getting close to dark, so there was no point in going swimming, but I wasn't going to decline the idea of walking along the shore and distressing for a bit. So I went to do just that.
I put on a pair of sandals, and began to head outside and towards the beach. The sun was setting, casting light orange and pink colors across the ocean. The faint sound of seagulls in the background and the waves splashing onto the sand was magnificent.
I breathed in the salty air, and made my way closer to shore. I took off my sandals and began carrying them, letting the waves pull onto my feet, and the sand tickle my toes.
"It's beautiful out here at sunset." I jolted a bit at the unexpected voice, and turned to see Kaoru, who wore a plain blue tank top, and white beach shorts. I smiled to the red head, and nodded. "What brings you out here, Kaoru?"
He thought on my question for a minute, before a light pink dusted his cheeks. "I saw you walk out here, and figured you'd like the company."
"Normally, I'd prefer to be alone." My answer caused him to frown, and I could see him begin to turn to leave, but I grabbed his arm, causing him to look back at me with questioning amber eyes.
"But if it's you, I don't mind."
His cheeks became brighter as he just stood there, but nodded. "O-okay." He smiled, finally joining my side.
We eventually found ourselves sitting in the sand, talking about who knows what. The sun had eventually set, and the only light we had was what was casted from the beach house, and the moon.
"The last time I went to the beach, my parents were still together." I stated, hugging my knees to my chest and smiling at the distant memory. Kaoru turned to face me, his full attention to my sad statement.
"I'm sorry, (y/n)."
"No, don't be. I don't want pity. If I did, I would have my story broadcasted. I don't want people to see how sad I am." My smile faltered, and became more of a sad one.
"I thought my dad was happy, and loved us. I thought I was blessed for being granted such amazing parents. But I never knew what happened behind closed doors." I sighed, digging my index finger into the sand and making small shapes.
"I was never able to be mad at them, though. All they wanted was a son, someone to heir the company. It's not mother's fault she could no long produce children. It was my fault."
It was silent for a minute, until I felt arms wrap around my shoulders, and Kaoru pull me close to him. I was shocked, and shaking a bit at the unfamiliar feeling. "I-I said I didn't want pity."
"I'm not pitying you. I'm lending you a shoulder. We're friends, and friends should be able to share empathy, and feel bad for one another. I'm just listening to you, and letting you vent. Haven't you ever vented before?"
I was stunned, frozen in his grasp. No, I never vented before. Not even to my old best friend. I didn't want to trouble others with my problems. It wasn't their battles.
"No." I said softly, looking down towards the sand.
"It's my battle...not anyone else's..."
"Doesn't mean nobody wants to cheer you on." My eyes widened, as I pulled back and stared at him. Why was he being so nice? What motive did he have to even care? I don't understand. We've only been friends for a little over a week, yet he's shown me more kindness and compassion than people I've known for years.
"Thank you."
We eventually made our way back up to the beach house, where we were pretty much, well not we, Kaoru was attacked by Tamaki.
"What do you think you were doing with my little angel!?"
"Nothing, boss. We were just talking."
"Why do I not believe you, you shady twin."
"Tamaki he's telling the truth." I chimed in, pulling the blonde away from Kaoru. Tamaki sighed, and pulled me into a hug. "I'm just looking out for you."
"I know, thank you but I can take care of myself." Tamaki frowned, but nodded. He stepped away from us, and crossed his arms.
"Well, lights out soon. You're covered in sand so I'd go wash up before bed."
I nodded, smiling to the boys as I went to my room.
I was still a bit astonished by Kaoru. How caring he was. How sympathetic. I shook the thoughts away as I went into my bathroom, stripped of my clothes and began my shower, letting the water wash away my worries of the night.
I stepped out into the steamy bathroom, wrapping a towel into my hair and around my waist, and stepped into my room, only to be met by Haruhi.
"Jeez, you almost gave me a heart attack." I laughed as I sauntered over to my bag, and pulled out a simple pair of (f/c) sleep wear. "Sorry, I had to get out of my room, Tamaki wouldn't leave me alone and he knew you were showering so I knew he wouldn't bug me here." She sighed, running a hand through her hair.
"He just cares."
"I know, but a little too much." We laughed, and I went to change real quick then came back. "Since you're here, we could watch a movie?"
"I won't say no to that." She pulled herself onto one side of my bed, as I grabbed the remote and dimmed the lights, sitting beside her.
We chose a horror movie, neither of us being big scaredy cats we thought it'd be nice. Though, it was only about 30 minutes in when I looked over to see Haruhi fast asleep.
I smiled at the brunette, and carefully got up, went to the kitchen to get a midnight snack.
Honestly, this place was a little bit creepy after all the lights were out, and everyone was sleeping. What was even creepier was the kitchen light was already on, and I could hear footsteps in the room. Not like the horror movie got to me or anything, but just in case I grabbed the near by vase, and held it up in defense as I turned the corner, and held it up to attack.
Whatever poor soul it was, they dropped their food and jumped in freight, terrified of the small girl wielding a vase. Upon closer inspection though, it seemed to be Hikaru.
"Jeez, (y/n)! I dropped all of my food." He pouted, putting a hand over his chest to still his heart.
"Sorry, thought you were some robber."
"Yeah, robbing the fridge." We laughed, and I kneeled down to help him discard the now ruined food, though I just realized a plate shattered a long with it.
"I'm sorry, Kyoya's gonna kill me."
"Not if we don't tell." Hikaru held a finger up to his lips, causing me to smile, and do the same.
"Alright, be careful with the glass, I don't want you to hurt yourse-"
As if on que, I cut my finger on one of the more jagged pieces of glass, the blood quickly trickling down my hand.
"Ow."
"You're a mess." Hikaru laughed at me, grabbing a napkin and wetting it, holding it to me. "Hold that against it, sit over there and let me finish cleaning this then I'll get a first aid kit."
I nodded, cleaning up the blood then putting pressure on the wound, and moving out of his way so he could get done quicker. He was being careful with each piece as he cleaned up, eventually finishing after a few minutes.
He helped me up and led me to the nearest bathroom, and began searching for the first aid.
I boosted myself onto the sink and waited, seeing him smile as he finally found the little red box and made his way to me, tossing the napkin and grabbing some disinfectant wipes. "This is gonna sting."
"Oh no, I think I might die."
He rolled his eyes, and gently wiped the cut, causing me to clench my eyes from the sting.
"The worst parts over." He smiled, grabbing some bandage and neatly wrapping up my finger.
I smiled at the delicate work he did, observing the bandaging. "Thank you, sorry for being dumb."
"Eh, just be careful next time." He yawned, and made his way out of the bathroom, and I followed, my stomach growling.
"Let's get some food and then sleep."
"Sounds like a plan."
"Jeez, you two are so different but so alike." I laughed as I looked at Hikaru covered in food, trying to be my kitchen hand but failing miserably. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"I mean your brother tries to crack an egg but with the force of caveman."
We both laughed, but stopped when we heard footsteps, and someone enter the room.
"Hikaru? What are you doing up so late you should be sleeping." Kaoru sauntered in, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he yawned. I smiled at the cute sight, but then shook the thought from my head.
"Sorry, (Y/n) cut her finger so I was helping her." Kaoru's head shot up, now more seemingly awake as he stared at me, just now realizing I was also in the room. Though, instead of worry being displayed on his face, something else appeared.
Jealousy.
