~(Y/n)'s POV~
I had been out of the hospital for a week now, and I was finally gonna return to school tomorrow. The doctor told me my arm was broken in two separate spots, and would take a few months to heal up. It had taken some time getting used to using one arm, but it wasn't too hard.
I say, as I am currently struggling to pull this shirt on.
So here I was, hopping around my room, FINALLY getting this white v-neck on, and carefully pulling on some black skinny jeans. I slipped into some white sneakers, and finally pulled on a red flannel, but I didn't feel like fighting with the buttons.
I sat down after my work out of getting dressed, and pulled my sling on, resting my arm into it, but groaned as there was a knock on my door. So back up, I walked over and grumpily opened it.
"Wha-oh, Hey Kaoru." My mood instantly was replaced as I saw the ginger at my door. He smirked at me. "I came to check up on you, all of us have been worried."
"I'm okay." He was just here yesterday, the nutcase.
"You're hair looks like it's been through a tornado." My eyes widened, as I used my free hand to pat it down. Kaoru laughed, grabbing my hair brush and sitting me on the bed, helping me tame it.
I was a little embarrassed, but I had slightly gotten used to this. He had been coming over for the last few days, helping me however he could. It was really sweet, I could tell he was really worried about me.
He was gently brushing my hair, the sensation was really relaxing.
When he finally finished, I felt the bed sink beside me. I looked over and he motioned for me to stand up, and when I did he began buttoning my shirt. My face flared red as I looked down at him, but his focus was steady until he finished. "There." He smiled, patting my head.
The room grew silent, and I turned away, clearing my throat.
"Have you been eating?" He suddenly asked. I chewed on my lip and nodded.
"What?"
"Mostly sandwiches...they're the easiest to make with one hand." He sighed.
"I wished you stay over with us. This is ridiculous , (y/n)."
"I know, I know."
"She still won't let the maids cook for you?""Mom please, I can't cook for myself."
"Too bad. It's your own fault for being kidnapped.""I..." I stuttered, my eyes darting around the room.
Kaoru went to talk, but there was another knock on my door, and Hunter poked his head in.
"Miss (Y/n), you have a visitor..." His voice trailed off, and he didn't quite meet my eyes with his own. I furrowed my brows in confusion, as I walked to my door, Kaoru in toe with me.
"I don't understand, other than you who would come see me?" I thought to myself, looking to Kaoru as he only shrugged. "Maybe an admirer? Or a polite robber?"
"Shut up." I laughed, elbowing his arm gently, causing him to laugh as well.
We made it to the stairway, where Hunter then led us to the family room. I walked in, and saw a man who had his back to me, admiring the portraits of my mother on the wall.
He was tall, and from what I saw of his hair it was slicked back neatly, and was turning gray. He wore a dark business suit, his hands stuffed in his pockets as he was lost in his own world.
"May I help you, sir?" I finally broke the atmosphere, causing the man to turn.
"(Y/n), you're okay..." my eyes widened. His familiar (e/c) eyes, soft smile, (s/c) skin that was beginning to wrinkle with age.
"F-Father...?" I breathed out shakily, my one arm trembling as I stepped back. I looked to Kaoru, who put a hand on my shoulder to calm me down, but sent a glare towards my dad.
"Why...why are you here?" I said quietly, my voice barely wanting to escape from my throat.
"Listen, I need to explain to you something. I think you're old enough now to know." He said, taking a step towards me, but I only backed up.
"You show up after what, 10 years? And expect me to just listen to you?!" My voice shook, my knees wanted to buckle but I stayed standing. Why was he here? Why would he just show up?
He sighed, taking a seat on one of the couches, and gave me a pleading look. I shook my thoughts away. I needed these answers, and I could finally get them.
Kaoru and I walked over to the couch across from him, and took a seat.
"I see you befriended one of the Hitachiin boys."
"I'm actually friends with both of them. I've made a lot of friends this last year."
"I'm glad to see you striving well in school."
"Yeah.." why did it matter who I was friends with? Why did it matter that Kaoru was a Hitachiin?
"Does your mother know your friends?"
"She...yeah, she knows Kaoru. She's actually excited for us to get clo-"
"(Y/n)." His voice grew stern.
"There's a reason she's okay with it, because the Hitachiin's are well off, are you not?"
"Of course we are." Kaoru said blankly, growing confused.
"When I left, I didn't want to."
"Bull." I spat, now glaring.
"Listen to me." He sighed, rubbing his fingers through his gray hair.
"I told your mother I didn't want the company to go to you, because I was more okay with my son taking over. At first, I wanted you to take over. But...as you grew up, you fell in love with so many things. The stars were always in your eyes, my little girl. The galaxy couldn't compare."
"Then, why did you decide to take away the heirship...? From me?"
"Because, I couldn't force you to do that. Honey, I spend my days at a desk watching over several different companies that I own. I'm only 42, and the stress has gotten to me. I didn't want that for you. I wanted you to have a future of your own, a future where you were happy."
I could feel my eyes glazing over, tears fighting to spill out.
"Then why did you leave?"
"When I told your mother my plans, she tried desperately for us to have a son. That's when we found out she wasn't able to anymore..." he frowned, looking back at my mothers portraits. "I loved her, and I loved you with all of my heart. But, she wanted the money. Wanted the company. She wanted to know that when I retired, we would still be well off thriving through our children. When I took that away, she took away what I loved most, which was you."
My cheeks stained as the tears began flowing down, the tears that I've held in for over a year. I was confused, and angry, and upset. I was feeling too many emotions at once. I guess Kaoru could tell, being as he took ahold of my hand and gripped it.
"She forced me to leave, (Y/n). I never wanted to. I loved you too much, I wanted to watch you grow, and achieve your dreams. When I got that call...and was told you were kidnapped...I knew it meant it was my time to come home." His eyes traveled to my broken arm, where his stare grew sad. "You didn't deserve this."
"Dad..." I muttered, studying his features. Nothing said that he was lying. He looked so sincere. He looked so beaten down.
"You're telling the truth?"
"I wanted to just call you so many times and tell you how much I loved you." His own eyes glazed over, and he covered his face with his hands.
"I'm so sorry, (Y/n). I've heard of how your mother treated you, Hunter always filled me in."
I glanced over to the butler, who looked away slightly embarrassed. But I gave him a reassuring smile.
"Okay." I stood up, and made my way towards my father, and used my good arm to give him a hug. He was taken a back, uncovering his face, and quickly returning the gesture, being careful of my arm, and holding me tightly, a hug needed for years to come.
We stayed there for a minute, then slowly let go.
"How touching." We heard someone spit at us. I inwardly groaned as I turned to see my mother, leaned up against the doorway, a glare sent towards my father and I.
"(M/n)." My dad coldly said towards my mother, who returned his cold stare.
"(F/n). Why are you in my home?"
"I wanted to see my lovely daughter, you know, the one you took away from me." He began to stand up, walking to her.
"You look as lovely as ever." He took her hand, kissing it, but she pulled away.
"I told you not to show your face here."
"You had no right to force me to leave all because of your gold digging ways. (Y/n) doesn't need the business."
"Well without it so far she's been nothing but garbage! She got herself kidnap for Christ's sake, I can't believe I have such a disgrace for a daughter."
"Then let her live with me."
My eyes widened. I didn't even know where he lived. My mother thought on it for a second.
"Fine,"
"But, I'm cutting you off." My father began, sternly.
"What?!" She seethed, clenching her fists. I was growing more confused.
"I only kept up payments on the maids and butlers for you because of (Y/n). But I've heard of how they don't even do anything for her, on your orders." He glared, my mother grew uneasy, then began to fake cry.
She was wailing.
She sounded like an ambulance.
"I'm taking (Y/n). I'm not taking no as an answer."
"Fine!" She sobbed out, and ran off. My father turned to me, ruffling my hair.
"Will I have to switch schools?"
"No, I live rather close to Ouran." I smiled, and turned to Kaoru. It seemed like for once, things were taking a turn for the better.
"Get to packing, hun."
"Yes sir!"
I heard him laugh as I ran up the stares, Kaoru following with a smile.
