Maya's Point of View
"What was that all about?" I asked after Damian left.
"You already know what happened," Juliet said with no expression on her face.
"Oh. You called off the wedding," I remembered. "Well, you did a great job because you had me fooled! I thought that you were fighting for real!"
"That's because we were."
"Huh? What are you talking about?" I asked.
"I was faking it at first, but then I realized that he only wanted to marry me for my money. He was being so mean and aggressive," she replied thinking back to the argument that had just occurred only a few minutes ago, "He said that I had to marry him because he owned me."
"Oh no. That's terrible. I'm sorry to bring it back up. Don't worry too much about it. If he wants to mess with my great-grammie then he'll have to go through me!" I said whilst buffing out my chest and flexing my muscles.
Juliet laughed, "What kind of name is 'great-grammie'?"
"I dunno, it's just something that I came up with," I said with my head held high.
"Ha ha! Okay, now that we got that out of the way, what's the next step of the plan?" Juliet asked, ready to forget about Damian.
"I'm not sure," I shrugged my shoulders, "have you got any ideas, voice?"
"The next, and final step is to wait. Maya shouldn't cause any attention to herself, and should remain unknown by everyone else in the town. You, Juliet, need to keep that former fiancé of yours under control, and move him out of the house as soon as possible. Once the planned day of the wedding has passed, Maya can safely return to her correct time period and enjoy a happy life," the voice explained.
"Well, that should be easy. We only need to wait for about two weeks," Juliet told me.
"Cool. I'm going to read one of your books, if you don't mind, so if you need me, I'll be in the sitting room," I announced receiving a nod from Juliet.
Another hour had passed when I stood up, stretched, and walked towards the kitchen for a glass of water. I grabbed a cup from the cabinet, and held it under the faucet until it was half full. I took a sip and there was a knock at the front door.
"Hey, Maya, could you get that for me?" Juliet yelled from somewhere else in the house.
"Yeah, sure!" I replied.
I sat my cup on the table, and walked to the door. I unlocked it and swung it open. There stood someone who was the last person I would want to see. Damian Simmons. I slammed the door closed real quick, but he stuck out his foot at the last second so that the door wouldn't shut. I used all of my weight to try and close the door, but his foot wouldn't budge.
"Look, I know that Juliet probably hates me right now, but I really need to patch things up with her," he tried to explain. I didn't listen. I pushed on the door harder.
"Let him in," Juliet said as she entered the room. I moved away from the door to let him in. When he looked at me I gave him a look of hatred. If looks could kill.
"I have already boxed up all of your things, so you can take them with you," she said to him.
"Thank you very much," Damian said back, "Look, I apologize for what I said earlier, and I am really sorry that I used you. I thought that I loved you, but I don't know if I really did anymore."
"Okay!" I clasped my hands together, "Now, if I were you, I'd get my junk and hightail it out of here before someone has to apologize for breaking your face!"
Getting the point, he dashed to what used to be his bedroom and grabbed all of his stuff. He then said a quick bye to Juliet and ran back outside.
"Oh, so I don't get a farewell?" I shouted out the door,"I see how it is."
"Sorry! Goodbye Maya!" Damian yelled over his shoulder.
I chuckled and smirked at Juliet. She was trying to suppress her giggles by covering her mouth with her hand, but it wasn't working. Soon we were both laughing so hard that our sides hurt. We showed him who was boss!
