I woke up with a sharp pain in my back and I was tied to what seemed like another body.
"What happened?" I asked myself.
"Damian struck you with a bolt of lightening," said the person who I was tied to. It was Juliet.
That's when I remembered it all. The things that I said, the way I was acting, and the way I felt; everything.
"I'm sorry about what I had said earlier, Juliet. I don't know what got into me," I apologized.
"There's nothing to apologize for, Maya," she replied with sadness evident in her voice, "It turned out to be true anyways. It didn't ever occur to me that I could have been tricked by him. If only I could have saved myself, if only-"
"The world wasn't so wicked," I finished. I didn't want her to feel bad. After all, it wasn't her fault that we were stuck in this mess, it was mine. My carelessness got the best of me.
I looked around. We were in a small, brightly lit room. The walls were white, and a pattern of gray and cream colored tiles filled the floor, making it look similar to a checker board. The only thing other than that was a door, and it was also gray.
A few moments later, Agatha burst in with a very tired looking Damian. She wore a red dress, some pink heels, two big hoop earrings, A red clutch with faux fur, and a pink feather boa. All in all, she looked like she had just bought her look from the "hand me down" store. Her dress seemed to swallow her, and what bit of legs her dress showed off were as thin as tooth picks. Oh, and did I forget to mention that her color coordination was awful?
I snickered as she approached us. She looked so bad, that even the ugliest creature in the world would laugh at how ridiculous she looked.
"Me and your EX fiancé here are going to celebrate!" she squealed in excitement.
"Oh, are you going to celebrate by scrapping up what you can at the nearest clothing shop with your last bits of money? I mean seriously, I can lend you a couple of dresses and skirts if that'll make you take that hideous outfit off. Are you colorblind or something, because that just doesn't match at all," I said earning a glare from her.
"No. We are going to be enjoying ourselves at the ball tonight," she explained trying to ignore my snide remark.
"All of the doors and windows are locked, so there would be no use in trying to escape,' Damian said before closing the door.
After I heard the sound of another door close, I started to wriggle inside of the rope.
"We have to find a way to escape, we have to," I said.
"You never give up, do you?" Juliet asked while chuckling.
"Nope."
After I had wriggled my arms out of the tight rope, I twisted the rope so that the knot was in front of me. It was one of the most complicated knots I had ever seen. It had hundreds of tiny twists, turns, and loops in it. This would take a millennium to untie.
"I need something sharp..." I thought aloud. I didn't have my luggage with me, it was still at Juliet's house.
Then I got the perfect idea. I had noticed that Juliet wore a pointy necklace that resembled an icicle. I asked her for it, and she handed it to me with no hesitation. Jewelry can have multiple purposes.
I poked the necklace charm into the knot and ripped up a few strands of rope. After about fifteen minutes, I was done.
I started to kick and push the door as hard as I could until I remembered something that my sister had told me a while ago.
...
It was the first party that I was old enough to attend, but I was grounded for getting into trouble at school. My sister was almost ready when she looked my way.
"Hey, I know that your not allowed to go, but I want to tell you something..." she started.
"What?" I asked.
"Well, you know how mom and dad lock the front door with a key?"
"Yeah. I won't be able to open it without the key. They'd hide it somewhere we wouldn't ever think to look..."
"I know, but there's another way. You can use a hair pin to pick the lock," she explained. She tossed me a couple of hair pins before turning towards the door.
"Oh, and try not to cause a lot of trouble, okay?" she said before heading out the door.
...
I hadn't thought much about my family recently. I really miss them.
I took a hair pin out of my hair, causing a lock of dark brown hair to fall. I stuck the pin into the lock on the doorknob and jiggled it around until the door slightly opened.
We walked out of the room, and I looked around until I found an exit. I looked up at the bright constellation above us.
"I know where we are," Juliet said, "Come on." She tugged on my arm and I winced.
I got hurt, really bad.
