I was being shook awake by a blurry figure.
The blinding sunlight was streaming through a window, and there was a cool morning breeze.
"Just give me five more minutes mom," I said in my morning voice. A girl needs her sleep!
I heard chuckling. What was so funny? This person must be crazy if they think that waking somebody up was hilarious.
"What's the matter?" I asked focusing my eyes on the person who had awoken me from my slumber.
"I'm not your mom sweetie, I'm Juliet!" she explained.
Heat rose up my cheeks. It was Juliet, not my mother.
I really missed my family.
"We're leaving soon," she continued, "You can eat a small breakfast before we go. We've got a lot of ground to cover."
"Oh, and you might want to fix your hair," Chester said, clearly about to burst out into a fit of laughter.
I grabbed my miniature mirror, and took a quick look at my reflection. Agatha's spell still hasn't changed my appearance, it's just that my hair looked like a bird's nest! I quickly smoothed down my hair so that I would at least look presentable.
I grabbed an apple danish, and a carton of orange juice from our food basket to eat as my breakfast. Then I began to pack up my blankets and pillows that I'd slept on.
We got our stuff together and said goodbye to Chester and his crew. Boy was I glad to leave those lunatics behind! (excluding Chester)
I followed Juliet towards the exiting of the forest, and we walked towards the remains of her house.
Everything that was inside was either destroyed, or was covered in ashes. Only a small metal box remained unharmed by the flames that engulfed the home.
"Why are we here?" I asked Juliet. "We might get caught."
"Shh!" she commanded. "They'll hear us if you don't lower your voice!"
"Sorry! Why are we here?" I repeated in a whisper.
"For that," she said pointing to the metal box.
"Oh."
"Listen. Your good at sneaking, right?" she whispered to me.
"Yes?..."
"I need you to go get the box for me. I'm so clumsy that I would probably trip over debris and make up a racket over there."
"Okay," I whispered back as I began to tiptoe towards the box, retrieving it with ease.
Piece of cake.
Juliet praised me, and we continued walking back into the forest. Once we reached the clearing, we began to prepare for the eclipse that would occur later on that day.
"What's in the box?" I asked Juliet when I was done laying out our materials for the eclipse.
"It is filled with many treasures that I cherish," she told me.
She pulled a key out of her left back pocket. and unlocked the lock on the chest, causing it to pop open.
There were various gems and jewelry in the box made with real gold and silver.
My eyes were focused on this beautifully crafted gold and silver watch that was encrusted with small diamonds.
Juliet carefully took the watch out of the box and placed it in my hands.
"I want to present you with this watch not as a gift, but as a token for my love for my family, and how I'll always be there for you no matter what happens," she said to me.
That brought a tear to my eye. Not because I was sad or anything, but because of how much my great-grammy loved her future great-granddaughter!
We hugged each other enjoying this peace and serenity.
Our moment was soon ruined by the loud sounds of guns in the distance, and the crunching of leaves.
A hunter emerged from a blueberry bush carrying a large revolver.
"Hey! It's Juliet and that girl!" he yelled.
I smell trouble...
