After the shocking news of General Lamarque's passing, we decided to spend the night preparing our weapons. I knew they were scared. I was too. Enjolras was tense. I think he knew, that they were outnumbered. There was no way, we would get out of this alive.

The 5th came around. It was a nice weather and I knew my father was going to be there. If he would recognize me? I didn't know. But what I knew, was that this was going to be the end of the monarchy. Even if this Revolution fails, people will remember those brave boys, who had fought and died for their country.

I got ready for the Revolution. My dress was simple. Courfeyrac said I should wear a big dress, but I decided against it. I know why he wanted me to wear a big dress. Because he didn't want me to fight.

I showed up at the Elephant of the Bastille

I showed up at the Elephant of the Bastille. Gavroche was already there and so was Courfeyrac. Gavroche pointed to me, which made him turn around. I flashed him one of my biggest smiles, as if this was just a normal day. But it wasn't. It was the day that would change all of our lives or even destroy them.

Courfeyrac came over to me. "I thought you'd follow my instructions, princess." "Then you don't know me well enough, because I don't follow rules, I make them and if necessary, I'll break them too.", I said. I walked over to Grantaire. I could hear my fiancé say "what a woman." I smirked.

"Bonjour. R, you're shaking, what's wrong?", I asked. "I didn't drink yet. I need to be sober for my Enjolras. I can't let something happen to him. I'd take the freaking bullet for him.", he said. "I'd take a bullet for Fey too. And you. I'd take a bullet for all of you.", I said.

"You're so kind, you cannot fight in a bloody revolution.", he said. "Do you want me to show you that I can?" "Depends on what you would do to me." "Probably break your nose.", I said, obviously joking. "Alright, I guess, I am going to look for your fiancé now.", he said, practically running to Courfeyrac. I had to laugh. But not for long.

Soon the square had filled up with people and the last were the royal family. So typical for them, I thought. Enjolras threw me a disgusted look, making me look at King. I rolled my eyes. The carriage with the coffin came closer and behind it, its future.

*listen to Do you hear the people sing? because this is what's happening right now 😂*

The carriage stopped. The square was filled with silence. Courfeyrac pushed me behind him when he saw the National Guard pulling out their guns. The first shot rang out and hit a little boy. A friend of Gavroche. It killed him immediately. It broke my heart seeing Gavroche shaking his friends shoulders. Combeferre took him away and he cried into his jacket.

The square was loud now. "TO THE BARRICADE!", Enjolras yelled. The Revolutionaries ran and I could see my father pointing at me. He was talking to the Guard but he didn't seem to notice me. Fey grabbed my arm and dragged me alongside him. When we reached the Café, I went inside and helped Feuilly and Bossuet throwing the piano out of the window. That piano that we had so much fun with. Those nights when Enjolras wasn't paying any attention to his surroundings.

"We need as much furniture as can throw down!", my beautiful fiancé yelled. It was raining furniture, literally. Soon the barricade was built and we all waited for the National Guard to arrive. Sooner or later they did arrive. And they weren't unarmed. Too much if you ask me.

"Who's there?", the General yelled. "French Revolution.", Enjolras replied. And the shooting had begun. My friends fell like domino stones.
Feuilly, Bossuet, Bahorel, Eponine.......

The National Guard walked away. "Is everyone alright?", I asked. Gavroche was in a corner, bawling his eyes out. I walked over to him and hugged him tightly. "She'd be a very good mother.", Combeferre said to Courfeyrac. "I know. She will be a good one. I can feel it.", he said.

"Gav, I am so sorry. You will have a family. I promise. If one of us survives, then you shall live with them." "What if none of us survive?", he asked. I was speechless. Of course I couldn't say that this was most likely happen.

"Don't think about it Gav. Promise me that. Alright? You should sleep now. We don't know what tomorrow brings. Eponine and your friend will watch out for you and make you survive.", I said, trying to give him a little hope.

The boys had lied down on the ground, trying to get the rest they deserved. The only one awake were Courfeyrac and I. Courfeyrac was sobbing. "A, why are you crying?", I asked. "I can't stop thinking about what happened to Feuilly. What if that was me or even worse, you? I don't wanna wait to marry you. I want to marry you tonight."

"Is it what I think you want to do?", I asked. He nodded. "Emilia, I love you so much. I understand if you don't want to marry me tonight but I can't promise to marry you after the Revolution.", he said, tearstreaks staining his cheek.

"I do wanna marry you tonight. We should go now.", I said. "Wait, really?", he asked. "Yes, I want to marry you tonight.", I said. He nodded and then he climbed over the barricade. He helped me over the barricade and we informed Jehan about where we were going.

We ran to the closest church we could find. We walked inside, thankfully finding a priest praying. "Excuse me, Father.", I said. He turned around to face us. "Bonjour. But it's very late. Why are you here?", he asked.

"We want to get married, tonight. You see, we are from the barricade and we don't know what's going to happen to us.", he said. "I understand. May God bless the barricade and take us out of the horrible France we live in.", he said. "May I ask for your names?", he added.

"I am Emilia Choquet and this is my fiancé, Alexandre de Courfeyrac.", I said. "Alright. Do you have the rings?" "I do.", he said. "Good, then let's start the ceremony."

Later our vows were said and we exchanged the rings. "I pronounce you to husband and wife. May you live a long and happy life together." "Thank you father. We don't know how to thank you.", I said. "Stay alive and take us out of this horrible France." "We will.", my now-husband said.

We walked out of the church and we just smiled at each other. "I am the happiest man alive now. I love you Emilia and I always will. Don't forget that.", he said. I nodded. We returned to the barricade. Jehan had changed positions with Enjolras. "Where are you guys coming from?", he asked. We showed him our rings.

"You guys eloped. Congratulations.", he said in a soft voice. "Thank you", Courfeyrac whispered. We climbed over the barricade and were met with Jean Prouvaire's wide awake eyes. "Congratulations, to the both of you. I never told you both that, but you guys are amazing.", he said hugging us. We decided to sleep a little.

We didn't know that the National Guard was already on their way to destroy us....
