A sudden knock on the door was heard and I immediately went to the door, in hope that it would be my beautiful wife. But instead of meeting the perfect, little cute face of Emilia, I was greeted by Guards.

"Are you here to arrest me now?", I asked. "No, we have a letter from the princess for Monsieur de Courfeyrac." "That's me.", I said. They bowed and left. Emilia's beautiful handwriting was seen and I knew she needed me.

"From who is that letter?", Combeferre asked. "Emilia.", I said. "What does it say?", Gavroche asked. The boys looked anxious. What did Emilia say? Was she in danger? "We need to go back to the palace.", I said. "Oh no, I won't go there." "My wife is being held hostage by the king.", I yelled at Enjolras.

"We should've eloped too. That's what Grantaire wanted. And I called him a fool.", Enjolras said, crying his heart out. The death of Grantaire was hard on all of us. And that's when realized how much we needed him around. But that wasn't going to happen now, or ever again.

"Enjolras, it's not your fault. He was brave and he was ready to die for you and for France.", I said, "I am going to the palace by the way." And with that, I left my own house. Gavroche and Jehan right behind me. Soon we reached the palace. And there she was in all her glory.

I looked down from the balcony to see if Courfeyrac was here. And he was. Along with Gavroche and Jehan. A smile crept on my lips and I could see him smiling back. I wanted him. I wanted to kiss him. I needed him. I loved him.

The celebration came to an end. I walked into the Grand Hall to speak with my father. "Father, I wanna go outside, to get some fresh air. Will you let me?" "You can open a window, but nothing else.", he said. "Father!" "I said no." I bowed and left. When I came back to my bedroom, I could hear stones being thrown at my window.

I opened the window to see my dear Alexandre. He tried climbing up the bricks of the palace and made it to my window. "Open the window a little wider for me, please.", he whispered. "Of course." I let him in and he climbed inside. He hugged me tightly and I hugged him back.

Then he kissed me passionately, like no one was there and time would stop turning. "I missed you.", he whispered. "I missed you too.", I said. "Emilia, I cannot let you stay here. I can't live without you." "You have Gavroche and Jehan, Combeferre, Marius, Enjolras.", I said.

"He's drowning himself in alcohol but that reminds him too much of Grantaire.", he said. "I miss Grantaire." "So do I. But life must go on.", he said. "I don't want to let you go again.", I said. He nodded. "I don't want that either. But I don't want to be arrested again.", he said.

Then the double doors opened and a Guard stood there. "Your majesty, you should go to bed. Your father's order.", he said coldly. "I will, alright?", I said. He left and Courfeyrac came out of his hiding spot. "Will he come back tonight?", he asked. "I do not know. It's been so long since I've last been here.", I said, "but you'll stay here tonight, aren't you?"

"Of course, I'll stay with you tonight.", he said. I don't want to let you go. I can't live without you. I told you that when we got married.", he said. "It's crazy that it had just been a few days.", I said. He nodded. "It is." "How is Enjolras taking Grantaire's death?", I asked out of curiosity. "Not well. He drinks but even that reminds him of Grantaire. He's blaming himself for all of this. He blames himself for letting you alone here."

"I asked for you all to be let go. You suffered enough. It was either staying here or your life taken. And I couldn't risk your life.", I explained. He nodded. "You should sleep. You're tired." I nodded. He fell asleep. He held me close. This was so different. Madame was probably worried about us. All my belongings were in the Café. My life was in the Café.

That room kept so many memories. He was fast asleep and I was still wide awake. I untangled me from Courfeyrac and walked on the balcony. It was a cold night and Paris looked even more miserable than before. I could see everything from here. The Café, Courfeyrac's house, everything. There was a carriage at the Café. I could see it. I wanted to know what's going on.

I got dressed and woke Courfeyrac up by accident. "Emilia, what are you doing?" "There's a carriage in front of the Musain. I want to know what's going on.", I said. He got dressed himself and off we were. He climbed down the balcony and helped me down too. Then we ran to the Café as fast we could. We reached the Café in no time.

My eyes fell on the dead bodies of my friends. Grantaire, Feuilly, Joly, Bossuet, Bahorel..... "Wait a second. I command it.", I said to man. I walked over to the boys. "Where are you taking them?" "To a mass grave." "No, I want them to have a proper funeral." "Your majesty." "Do you defy the king's daughter? I said I wanted to have a proper funeral for them. That's my final decision.", I said. He bowed.

"Emilia, when do you want that funeral?" "When I say so.", I said, "And I want it tomorrow." "Emilia, Alexandre. Oh God, you're alive.", Madame said running towards us. "Yes we are.", I said. "I was so worried. They arrested you." "We were let go but Emilia is still under arrest." "It's complicated Madame." "I must say Madame to you too know, don't I?" I nodded.

Madame made sure that there was a funeral and we went back to my room in the palace. They would kill him if they found out I was with him. And I didn't want to risk it.

(A/N: yesterday was amazing, my friends are a freaking blessing 😍 anyways, there will be a funeral in the next chapter )
