I woke up with a throbbing headache. I rolled over in bed to cuddle to Courf, but I rolled into his empty space. I opened my eyes to see the door closed and the window open. I slowly got up and opened the door.
"Good morning.", he said, scaring me. I let out a scream. "Did I scare you?", he asked. "Yes. Don't you have any idea of what could happen to our baby when I am being scared like this?", I asked. "Come on, it was a harmless joke. Nothing else.", he said. "There's something you should know.", I said, walking back into the bedroom. He followed.
"What is it?" "My mother had a miscarriage when I ran away. She was so scared that I had died and she lost my sibling. And it's all my fault.", I said, looking to the ground. "Hey, món chérie, I hate tears. Why didn't you tell me earlier? I wouldn't have done it if I knew.", he said.
"I guess I was scared. I tried to stop thinking about it.", I said. "You know what I am curious about? What happened before we met? You were a waitress in Café Musain. How did you find work there?", he asked.
"I remember it as clear as night. I was 13 years old, it was 1824 and I hated my life. My life didn't contain more than etiquettes and puffy dresses. So one night, I just ran away. I looked for shelter. I found one in a dark alleyway. I was attacked by a man and Madame has come to my rescue. She took me to the Café and offered me a place to sleep. In return, I worked for the Café. She found out that I was the princess when I was 14. She had the same reaction as you. Just that she didn't want to shoot me. She promised me to never tell anyone about it. And she kept it. After we were arrested, my father told me about my mother. She had died many years prior." , I told him.
"Wow, that's a really fucked up childhood." "I wouldn't say that. I found friends and an actual family.", I said. "Emilia, I am so glad you told me about this. I promise to never let anything happen to you or our baby.", he said, kissing me.
He was an angel send from above. We made up really quickly and then we were cuddling for a while. He treated me like I was close to my due date. Which wasn't the case.

The pregnancy was beautiful. I loved my baby, Alexandre did too. He wanted a girl so he could spoil her but Combeferre and I both felt that it was going to be a boy. He would love a boy too, of course. And I would have to worry that Courfeyrac would teach him how to shoot and load a gun.
Everything seemed perfect. And for once, I felt like I finally had a place.
(A/n: hello everyone! So I have another story prepared and I will post the first chapter tonight. Prediction time: what will the baby be? Girl or boy?)
