Time jump: 1855 (these are needed for this story, I apologize if it's annoying)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>Time was passing so fast. 8 years ago, my little baby boy was born and now he was celebrating his 8th birthday. "What are you wishing, Matthieu?", Courfeyrac asked. "Shh, daddy. I can't tell you otherwise it won't come true." "See? Daddy didn't do it and his wishes weren't granted."
Courfeyrac stuck out his tongue and I gasped. Matthieu laughed. "My wish was granted. I have you and you, big boy. That's all I ever wanted.", he said. "Did you tell anyone about your wish?", he asked. "No, except for mommy.", Courfeyrac answered.
"Mommy, can we eat the cake now?", he asked. "Yes mommy, we want the cake now!", Courfeyrac added. "Sometimes I am not sure whether I have a husband or a second child.", I said, taking the cake and walking in the kitchen.

"When is uncle Enjolras going to visit us?", Matthieu asked. "We will meet up with him later. But heads up buddy, uncle Combeferre and uncle Jehan are coming over soon. Gavroche and Evangeline will be here soon.", Courfeyrac said. And in that moment, knocks were heard. I walked to the door and opened up, to reveal Combeferre, Jehan, Gavroche and Evangeline.
"Bonjour Madame, where's the birthday boy?", Combeferre asked. "Uncle 'ferre!", Matthieu said, running towards the doctor. Combeferre kneeled down. "Bonjour Monsieur, where's the little boy named Matthieu?", he asked, jokingly. ""But I am here uncle 'ferre.", Matthieu pouted. "I was just kidding. Happy birthday.", he said.

Enjolras came over too. The day was filled with laughter and no worries. But even that has to come to an end. "Mommy, can we visit your friends? You know, those who died.", Matthieu said. Our smiles disappeared from our faces. We glanced at one another and silently agreed to. It has been 23 years ever since they died.
"I am sorry.", he whispered. "Don't be. Of course we can go. Am I right boys?" They slowly nodded. We got up from our seats and put on our jackets. We left pretty fast. The graveyard wasn't far away from us.

Row: 23, Dead heros. This is how I called it. Our friends graves were here. The first one was from Feuilly. The fanmaker who would usually judge you from the distance. Joly. The hypochondriac doctor. Bahorel. Brave fighter. Bossuet. Worst luck. And Grantaire's. Heavy drinker ahead. I had to giggle at the engraved sentences. Courfeyrac and Combeferre had done them.
"Uncle Enjolras, are you crying?", Matthieu asked with tears in his eyes. Enjolras kneeled down and hugged the little boy. Matthieu started sobbing loudly. Enjolras just silently cried with him. My heart broke into a million of pieces. And I could tell that Courfeyrac felt the same.
Courfeyrac lifted up Matthieu and I helped Enjolras up. His face almost immediately buried in my neck. His hot tears ran down his cheeks. And it hurt a lot to see him in such pain. They were soon to be married and just a little bullet changed their fate in seconds.
"Daddy, I love you.", Matthieu said between sobs. "I love you too Matthieu. It hurt a lot to see the boys cry. Even after 23 years, it feels like yesterday. You only realize how much you appreciate someone, when they are gone. Then the sun started to shine. It was a very cloudy day to start with but now the sun came out.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
We had to leave the graveyard after some while. It hurt too much. That night, we put Matthieu into bed and it hit us really hard. Courfeyrac and I cried arm in arm. Sometimes it's hard to remember their voices. And some days, they would be clear, just like if they were here.
(A/N: a quick chapter. Also I am sorry for all the time jumps but they are necessary to continue with the story. Thank you so much for reading ♡)
