Chapter 12

Kai POV*

After Scarlet was able to open up her new cafe she was lit up and completely busy with working but hardly ever stopped smiling, she was filled with energy and twice as happy with getting out the castle every day now. With me taking care of all my king things I was glade Scarlet didn't have to sit around bored looking for things to do. Being busy with my king work I made it a clear point to see my mate during lunch time for my break and her's happy seeing her bright smile as Christmas came. Today was now Christmas Ev. and the place was nearly filled with humans but mostly supernaturals who probably had nothing else to do. As I walked in, I instantly found Scarlet leaving the kitchen holding a note pad flipping threw it before looking up at the sound of the bell showing me her red eyes as she smiled.

"Kai!" She called me from across the room as I made my way to her with a smile before hugging her.

"Hello beautiful." I told her with a small kiss. Unlike my normal formal attire, Scarlet was wearing a Christmas style dress with her hair in it's normal ponytail but had on a reindeer headband with tiny bells and a mistletoe necklace.

"Your on break for lunch?" Scarlet asked me and I nodded letting her pull me threw the kitchen to her office.

"Hey Alex, Genie." I told them as we passed and they waved with smiles hard at work also dressed up.

"Hi king Kai." They both told me before Scarlet and I disappeared into her office where she shut the door.

"Feel like having a private lunch?" Scarlet asked me as I took a seat in her chair while she sat facing me on the desk and passing me a plate while taking one for her self.

"How is everything going so far?" I asked her as we both started to eat the food Alex know doubt made while she was working.

"It's been good. Everyone loves how the new place looks and the pictures we took during the grand opening are up and came out perfect. I love the work you and the others did Kai. Thank you for this." Scarlet told me and the sweet look she gave me had me nearly chock on my food as I cleared my throat and looked away from her.

"Your always welcome Scar. If it makes you happy I would do anything." I told her as I set down my food as thanking her as she passed me a hot drink. One of her special's for the holiday's. It's just a simple hot chocolate with what ever you want in it but when she makes it it's always amazing. Taking a sip, the first thing I tasted was peppermint and a little cinnamon as it warmed my already warm body. Closing my eyes savoring the taste with a sigh the only thing coming to mind as I enjoyed the hot drink was the warmth of my mate.

"Is it good?" Scarlet asked me with a small smile and I gave her one back.

"As always it's fantastic. I have know idea how you make something so simple so good but I love it." I told her and she laughed a little looking away from me as she held a cup of her own and moving a candy cane around in it mixing it up.

"It's just regular hot coco but im glade you like it." She told me as her face seemed to flush with a little red.

"Can you come here?" I asked her and she nodded before we moved everything aside and she moved to the center of the deck in front of me before I moved the chair closer and rapped her in my arms holding her as I put my head to her stomach as her fingers slipped into my hair. It was starting to be a normal position for us weather it's here or our office at the castle. I loved holding her and she loved being held by me. The only thing that could make this even better is to hear a small heart beat.

"Kai?" I looked up at Scar with a hum, completely content and not wanting to move or let go just yet.

"What is it Scar?" I asked her but she looked away at something else and started to play with her hair. It seemed like a rare habit I saw her do a few times.
