i sat in the kitchen trying to figure out this algebra homework when my phone buzzed beside me. i jumped and quickly looked at the caller ID. it was max.
i quickly slid to answer and placed the phone to my ear.
"hi." max says breathlessly
"max, hi." i say
"i just got home, i was chasing filly around the house. you said you had something to tell me?" he asks
i could hear him breathing heavily and sitting down on the couch to take a rest.
"yeah, i do." i say and smile to myself
"okay, what is it?" he asks
"so i talked to my mom about vidcon.." i start
"and?.." i could tell max was getting anxious and just wanted me to spit it out already
i enjoyed keeping the anticipation up, it was funny and exciting. but my heart was beating at the same time to tell him the great news.
"she said..i can go." i say
there was silence. i bit my lower lip waiting for a response.
"are you serious?!" max exclaimed
"i'm serious. she agreed." i say and smile widely
"holy—i can't believe this! i'm gonna cry, you better not be lying to me." max says
"aww don't cry. i'm serious max. i'm coming to vidcon." i say
"we're actually gonna reunite after like 3 years." he says
"i know right. it's crazy." i say
"you just made my day so much. i can't wait like 2 months. that's too long." max complains
i laugh
"it will be here before you know it. just start thinking up of things we're gonna do because i'm gonna be in cali for a week." i say
"yes, i'm on it." max says and chuckles
i chuckle to myself.
"okay well i just wanted to tell you, i couldn't wait. it's getting late so i have to go." i say
"okay. bye. the countdown starts now." max says
i laugh
"talk to you later." i say
"bye. i love you." he says
i stopped for a second. we've never said i love you over the phone to each other. just on our letters.
"i love you too." i say finally
i could sense his smile which made me smile.
we hung up and i jumped off the stool and did a little dance around the kitchen. finally we were gonna see each other again.
