Chapter 1 (Meet the Other Half of my Family)

We were sitting in the cab driving away from camp half blood when I proposed the idea to Nico.

"Do you think you could come meet my mom" I said with my head up against his chest.

I felt him tense under me and I sat up.

"It's okay if you don't want to, I'm sorry I shouldn't have been so blunt" I said quickly feeling embarrassed.

"I'm just worried she won't like me" Nico said avoiding eye contact.

"Why wouldn't she?" I said trying to make him look at me.

"I don't know.... I mean people never like the children of Hades" Nico said.

"Nico she'll like you, I promise you" I said wrapping my arms around his neck.

Nico sighed.

"I don't know Elise....." Nico started to trail off.

I gave him a peck on the lips and looked in his eyes.

"Please? I you're important to me and I want my mom to meet my happiness." I said gazing into his dark eyes.

"Fine" He sighed.

"Yo love birds, can you put the lovey dovey crap away till after we get out of the taxi?" Percy asked from the front seat.

I stuck my tongue out at Percy but did take my arms out from around Nico's neck.

The rest of the ride we spent in brief conversations.

When we arrived at our apartment building we got out of the taxi and Percy paid the driver.

"Let's get out bags up there then" Percy said grabbing his bags.

I nodded and grabbed mine.

"You coming?" I asked Nico picking up my bags.

He looked hesitant at first but the sighed.

"I guess".

A wide smile spread across my face as I lead Nico into the building.

We made out way up the stairs and knocked on the door.

We were greeted by my mother and Paul as we entered the apartment.

"I missed you two so much" My mom said pulling Percy and me into a hug.

"We missed you too mom" Percy said hugging her back.

She held us for a long time then pulled away.

I suddenly remembered Nico and turned around, he was standing awkwardly by the door and I had to suppress a laugh.

"Oh mom there's someone I want you to meet" I said grabbing Nico's arm and pulling him over to us.

"Ah, Nico is it? I'm Sally" My mom said putting her hand out.

"Uh Hi, .......I'm Nico" Nico said awkwardly shaking her hand.

"We've met before, a couple years ago" My mother said recalling the event.

Nico just nodded an stayed silent.

"I think Nico's just a little nervous, the meeting with dad last year didn't go too well" I said.

Nico shivered at the memory and my mother nodded.

"Well don't worry Nico, I don't bite" My mom joked.

Nico stayed tense and nodded.

I guess he really was nervous.

Percy and my mom disappeared into the kitchen leaving Nico and me alone.
