Chapter 23 (Where, is She?)

*Camp Half-blood*

Leo was sitting on the floor of Bunker 9 thinking to himself as the door flew open.

"Leo they found her" Percy said rushing over to Leo.

Leo jumped up onto his feet not sure whether to believe it.

Could they have really found Elise?

"Really?" He asked not risking getting his hopes up again.

"Yeah they have her at the hunters camp we should head over there now" Percy said rushing back out of the bunker.

Leo quickly ran out of the bunker following him and made his way down towards the Big House.

As Leo, Percy, Annabeth, and Thalia all ran to exit camp they came across a staggering shadow like figure in the distance.

"is that...?" Leo asked pointing towards the figure.

"Nico?" Percy called out.

The dark figure callapsed and Leo recognized the sickly pale olive complexed skin of the boy who was lying unconcious on the hill.

"It is Nico" Leo said as he rushed to help his friend.

All the demigods hurried to help Nico to his feet.

"Nico are you okay?" Leo asked the ragged boy.

Nico shook his head.

"I had her in my arms and then she ran away" Nico said choking back a sob.

Leo hugged his bestfriend tightly. He knew Nico must have been feeling horrible.

"It's okay man, you tried your best" Leo said patting Nico's back.

"We'll take him inside and then tell Chiron to tell him where we went when he wakes up" Percy said as the hurried up to the infirmary.

"Leo I let her go" Nico said quietly to his best friend.

"Shhh it's okay she probably put up a hell of a fight" Leo said trying to comfort Nico.

"That's the thing she didn't, she just ran I should've run after her but I didn't" Nico sobbed.

Leo didn't know what else to say but luckily he didn't have to say anything else because they had reached the infirmary and Will Solace was waiting to take Nico.

"Oh god Di Angelo, you've been shadow traveling again. You idiot" Will said cursing under his breath.

"He's just a little weak right?" Percy asked growing worried.

Will looked like he was trying to keep a straight face but the worry was clearly spread across his face.

They all knew this wasn't just fatigue.

"I don't know. His he's in critical condition right now and I think it would be best if you all tried to distance yourselves from the infirmary and distract yourselves" Will said.

Leo looked around and saw the worry on everyone's face.

Everyone was silent fro a little bit until a thought dawned on Leo.

"This is Elise's fault isn't it" Leo said.

"No Leo it's no......" Annabeth started but Percy cut her off.

"Stop Annabeth. It is her fault. If she hadn't run off then Nico wouldn't have gone after her" Percy said upset.

"He's right" Will said after Percy had finished.
