saturday night

| ETHAN'S POV |

my pen tapped on my math notebook, as i furiously began thinking.

"i have no fucking clue." i whisper to myself as i try to work the equation out in my head.

i slam it shut, throwing it across my room. i'm done with that bullshit.

i lay back, allowing my head to hit the soft pillows on my bed. why do i let myself get so stressed out about dumb shit? it's just algebra, not the end of the world.

a buzz noise comes from across the room, as my phone lights up on my desk. i crawl across my bed to get to it, picking it up and checking the notifications i have.

i immediately tap on the last notif, opening the conversation.

eve: are you busy?

my face goes red as excitement rushes through me.

me: not at all, what's up?

eve: we need to talk...

my smile fades as i read the words that popped up onto the bright screen. a familiar pit of worry makes my stomach turn.

me: are you okay? what's wrong?

eve: ethan, i'm fine. it's my parents

me: what? did something happen?

i'm in a slight panic, not having a clue what she's going to say next.

eve: they've just been suspicious. they're starting to not believe my excuses for going to parties, this whole thing is just getting repetitive

eve: if they find out, they'll be so disappointed in me

eve: ethan i don't know what to do

me: call me

within seconds, she called.

"ethan, they're gonna hate me." her voice sounds sad as it breaks slightly, making my heart pound in the worst way possible.

"eve, no they aren't. it's oka-" i start.

"no, you don't understand." she cuts in, "my parents think i'm perfect, if they ever found out that i've been lying for this long, they'll punish me and i'll probably never get to see you."

she was right, but i can't let her get away that easy. not because of her parents, or anyone for that matter.

"eve listen to me." her sniffles slow down as i begin talking, "i promise you, i won't let that happen."

"i cant keep secrets for much longer, ethan. they're going to find out about who i've been hanging out with eventually. and i know they won't approve of you, grayson or the guys." her sniffles come back as she explains further.
