| ETHAN'S POV |
"excuse me." i grab the shoulder of the first person i could find. "have you seen a short girl, brown hair, probably drunk?" i sigh at my own question.
the guy looks around the loud room sarcastically, "i see quite a few actually." his chuckle makes me infuriated.
how did she leave my sight.
i muttered a quick 'fuck off' as i push away from him, frantically jogging through the house.
every face started to look the same, making me realize how long i've been looking for her. i've gone down the same hallways, looking in the same rooms.
i stop for a minute to collect myself, jumping at the sudden voice. "ty and i are leaving." grayson's hand hits my shoulder, causing my head to whip in his direction.
his eyes look puzzled as he focuses on my distressed face, "what happened, where's eve?"
i froze up, knowing damn well what happens when she's drunk and alone. "exactly." was all i managed to say.
"you can't find her?" he squints, saying it as if it weren't believable. i never leave her alone, anywhere.
i nod, feeling the alcohol slosh through my head.
"meet tyler in the car, i'll find her." he almost rolls his eyes, gesturing his head for me to leave.
he started towards the staircase, leaving me behind. somehow i knew he wouldn't find her, yet he thought he'd be able to.
he doesn't know her like i do.
my feet travel quickly across the floor, meeting up behind grayson.
"i said-" i cut him off, "i'm not leaving until we find her, grayson."
a sigh leaves his mouth as we reach the top, each of us going a different way. long hallways run down each side of the house, lined with a few rooms each. my hand grips most every handle, locked. i shake them, trying to get them open, but nothing. i knock, not hearing any voices.
the final door on the end catches my attention, as it's slightly dim, almost all the way shut. but that slight crack allows me to see in, catching two silhouettes. faint voices arise from the room as i slowly get closer to the door. i try and be quiet with my feet, as i hear the squeak of a bed frame.
i'm close enough now to hear conversation.
"he's probably l-looking for me." the slur of her voice gave it away.
my anger allowed me to swing the door open. peering around the room as her eyes caught onto mine, then shot back to brandon's.
my jaw clenched as he stood next to her, taking the water bottle she was drinking from her hands.
before i could say anything, he stops me. "it's not what it looks like. she was drunk, i was just trying to help." his hands go up as if he were pleading innocent.
"so you take her in here instead of bringing her to me?" i step forward, taking her waist in my hands as i pull her body towards me. she's weak, but not drunk anymore.
"she was alone, looking for the bathroom so i brought her to it." he looked towards the bathroom attached to the room we were in.
my head doesn't turn however, i keep my focus on him considering i don't have all my answers yet.
"and what's this? some shit you mixed-" he cuts me off, "it's just water. ethan."
i take the bottle from his hands, opening the cap and bringing it to my nose. nothing smelt off.
he repeats himself as i hand her the water, encouraging her to drink it as she leans on me.
"i was just helping-" i cut him off, still pissed that i let this happen.
"i can handle it, she's not your girlfriend." i almost mutter it, desperately wanting this conversation to be over.
i could tell he was at the last of his temper when he practically spit at me. "do me a favor and keep track of her then. next time you get her drunk out of her mind i'll be sure to let her wander off." his shoulder collided with mine as he walks past me and out of the room.
my heart goes to my stomach, knowing i fucked up. something could've happened to her, and it was my fault. i pushed away a close friend that was trying to help, because i'm just too protective.
"ethan." she pats my chest to get my attention back.
my thumb grazes over her cheek as she pulls my hand out the door. she's walking fine, which surprised me.
"wait." i stop my feet, stopping her as well. "are you okay? i'm sorry i didn't know where you were-"
she cuts me off, "i'm fine, i feel better." a smile arises on her face, making my worry settle down.
"eve." grayson turns the corner of the hallway across from us. "where was she?" he adjusts his focus from her, to me.
"bathroom." she answers for me, shrugging her shoulders as if there wasn't a whole story behind it.
"it took you that long and she was in the bathroom?" grayson almost laughs, making my mood come up more than it already has.
she ignores him, re grabbing onto my hand, guiding me downstairs. grayson follows behind, until we finally make it back to ethan's car parked on the curb.

i'm surprised she hasn't fallen asleep considering we're almost home, and it's 2am. grayson and tyler dozed off in the back, making me tired as well. it's almost like she was anticipating something, because this girl's wide awake.
"what time are your parents home from work?" i re adjust my hand on her leg.
she pretty much smirks, "5" her eyes connect with mine, but different than usual. i don't know what's gotten into this girl, other than alcohol.
"can you stay at my place." her hand grips mine, "please." her emotion changed, she was serious.
"you can leave early, they won't see you if they sleep in." her begging voice and huge brown eyes made me give in.
i smile, "fine but we're dropping off them first." i gesture my head to grayson and tyler, turning down our street.
