"fuck, ow." he winces as i hold the cold ice pack up to his bruised lip.

"it'll help the swelling." i argue.

he sighs, holding onto my free hand a little tighter. i move the cold material to his eye, as he winces yet again.

i pull the ice pack away, "sorry."

i look down at my hands, frowning, placing the ice pack onto the kitchen counter next to me.

he grabs back onto my hand, "no it's okay, it's just bruised so it hurts."

he puts the ice pack in my hand, then places it back under his eye. a smile arises on his lips as he looks at me for a few seconds. i don't smile back.

he quickly frowns, putting the ice pack down yet again. "hey, it's okay." he places his hand on the side of my face, rubbing my cheek gently with his thumb.

"no it's not, this is my fault." i admit. the longer i look at his eyes, the more i want to cry.

i should've never went. but when i think about it a little more, how did he even know i was there?

"stop blaming yourself. it was that dick head's fault, you had nothing to do with it." he shakes his head, trying to convince me.

"how did you know?" i start, "that i was there, and that he was-"

"snapchat." he quickly cuts in, "i saw it on snapchat."

makes more sense.

"i found this for the cut on your lip, and more bandages if you need them." lisa comes up from the basement, with a handful of medical supplies, making me laugh at how sweet she is.

ethan looks at me, then back to lisa, "mom, we don't nee-"

"thank you, lisa." i cut in, smiling and grabbing the supplies out of her hands.

she smiles back then turns her attention to ethan, "now, at least try not to get into anymore fights, please."

a rosy blush took over his cheeks. "if eve would stop being pretty and attracting guys at parties, then you wouldn't have to worry about me." he shrugs, putting his hand on my back, yet keeping his attention on lisa.

she puts her hand on her chest as she smiles, and walks up the stairs, saying goodnight to the both of us.

there's a moment of silence, until i finally break it, "i should get home."

his head looks quickly in my direction as he furrows his eyebrows, "no, just a little longer."

his hands fall to my waist as he puts his head in the crook of my neck. he pulls me closer, leaving a kiss on my shoulder.

"ethan, my parents will be home soon. you know the drill." i gently push his shoulders off of me, knowing that i shouldn't give in.

"please." he begs in almost a whisper, tracing his hand down my arm.

"you're ridiculous." i roll my eyes, laughing a little, giving in.
