The cold made her shiver into her sweater. She could visibly see every breath she took and she walked down the concrete to her locker, hearing her footsteps among voices from the groups of people around her.
Holding her books the wind blew her hair in front of her eyes, placing the hair behind her ear she turns and looks to her left. And there she sees a boy walking with someone who appears to be his brother. Only wearing blue jeans and grey hood, he stares blankly in front him. Maybe—by some chance or instinctive feeling— he turns to his right and looks right into her eyes.
