Author's Note: Hey! So, I keep doing certain canon things off screen, and that's for a reason. Most people already knows what happens in canon, so there's no reason for me to rewrite it, so I'm just not gonna. If I change something massively compared to how it was in canon, then I will write it, but if not then we're fine. Right? If you want me to still write it, drop a comment.

"The next time you disrupt my class with something this frivolous, Ms. Xiao-Long, I won't be so lenient! Do I make myself clear?" Glynda roared.
Yang nodded back mutely, head down along with Ruby after the tongue lashing they had just received. Jay, however, continued to stare holes into Mercury, but before Glynda could question him about it, he spoke.
"I apologize for myself, and my friends, Ms.Goodwitch. To make reparations, allow me to fight this student from Mistral, to show him that the Beacon Academy is about merit, not just frivolous arguments." Not bothering to wait for an answer, Jay vaulted over the desk into the arena, standing face to face with Mercury.
Mercury blanched, stealing a glance at Cinder (who Jay immediately locked onto with his eyes). At her almost imperceptible head shake, Mercury tried to get the plan back on track. "Actually, I was thinking about trying to fight one Pyrrha Nikos. I heard she went to this school, so I thought I should fight the best, y'know?"
Jay noticed the verbal tick, but pressed on. "Well, this'll be fun for you then. Pyrrha Nikos and I are both tied at the top for first place fighter in this class, and we won't know who's best because SOMEONE refuses to pit us against each other."
Glynda shook her head, looking up into the stands for some form of support. However, all the students seemed to have magically come to an agreement, as all the Beacon kids nodded in agreement to Jay's statement. Even Pyrrha.
However, Mercury was nonplussed. "Yeah, well, until that day comes, Pyrrha is #1 in my books. So if you would just go-"
"That!" Jay cut in, one finger pointed up into the air in joy. The Beacon kids collectively groaned, causing the rest of the class to look around at them in confusion. However, they were drawn back to the field when Jay unfolded his weapon, his axe being swung around his body before being pointed at Mercury dangerously. "Sounds like a challenge." Jay finished.
"Alright then." Glynda relented. Mercury and the other Academy kids gawked at her, as she raised her hand in preparedness. "Let the battle-"
"Wait!" Emerald cut in. All heads turned to her, causing her to blush heavily, but still continue. "That's it? No more arguing, Mercury doesn't even have a choice anymore?"
"Ms.Sutrai....", Glynda began, "The last time a student tried to deny a challenge from Mr.Branwen, we found said student severely beaten soundly in this very arena the next day. We are saving your team a fair amount of hounding for the day, Jay his 5th detention this month, and I am saving myself a fair amount of paperwork." Glynda's look seemed to dare Emerald to say anything else, and when she sank back into her chair, Glynda sighed. "Thank you. Now let the battle commence!"

"That was the most one sided thing I've ever seen." Ren commented as they waited for Jay to return from the changing room.
"He shoulda broke his legs!" Nora chimed in.
"I... I think he tried to." Pyrrha muttered, seeming to try not to vomit.
