Scarlett
"Ms. Redd there is someone here to see you. Should I send them in?" Claire's smooth voice sang through the phone's intercom. It was nearing the end of a very long work day and all I wanted to do was finish up this last report and go home. Between work and carrying on a double life I had found very little time to sleep.
"Send them in." I managed to get out before yawning. I must admit that when I finally gave in to Michaels aggressive advances I thought that just maybe the thrill of the hunt would disappear. And in return he would perhaps grow bored with the situation. But God was I wrong. I agreed to unlimited access and Michael had taken full advantage of that. I had never met a man with such a strong sexual appetite. He would have me seven days a week if he could. It was as if the man simply never got tired. Even on the seventh day God rested. But not Michael. Not Michael. I squeezed my legs together as my pearl began to thump just at the thought of him. Regardless of how tired I was she could never turn him away. His dick was biblical. And I don't think she nor I had the slightest clue as to what we were truly getting ourselves into. "Down Girl." I whispered into my crotch.
"Happy to know I still get that same reaction out of you." An all too familiar voice chimed.
"Derrick!" I yelled popping back into my chair. The force sent the chair sliding towards the ceiling to floor window just behind me. Thankfully I was able to stop myself before bumping into it.
"The one and only." He said making his way over to me. He placed the flowers in his hand out for me to take causing me to roll my eyes in annoyance.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I forced through a fake smile.
"Well you had to have known it was only a matter of time before I found you. One of the many perks of being a cop." He slyly smiled taking his hat off and leaning against my desk.
"I wasn't missing to began with. But I appreciate the effort." I said standing to my feet and smoothing out my skirt. "Good to know you're still making good use of the man hours." I stated sarcastically. He and I both knew exactly what I was referring to. "Well since you've broken the case, If there isn't anything else I can help you with I think we're done here."
"Are we done here Scarlett?" He asked standing to his feet and stepping into me. "You pack up your shit and disappear. I haven't heard from you in months. Don't you think we need to at least talk about this?" He said taking my wrist into his hands.
"There's nothing more to say." I whispered into my shoulder. Unable to look into his face.
"After three years that's the best you can come up with?" His grip on my wrist deepened. "Huh!?" He yelled into my face causing my eyes to bulge. My face pleading for him to calm down. "You don't think you owe it to us to give this another try." I softly shook my head no. Unable to verbalize the response. Afraid that if I spoke the tears that were threatening to fall would escape.
"Derrick I ..." I wanted to demand that he left and let him know that we couldn't carry on the way we had before. I wanted to let him know that I had moved on. And that I was with someone else. And most importantly that I was happy now. I was happy now. Wasn't I?
"Scarlett look at me and tell me that you don't miss me. That you don't miss us." He placed his hands on my shoulders. "Tell me!" He pled roughly shaking my shoulders.
"Derrick I ..." I started only to be cut off by the sound of my office door opening.
We both turned to find Michael and Claire standing at the door.
"Baby Doll." Michael chimed seemingly oblivious to the scene unfolding right in front of him. He hurriedly made his way over to me causing Derrick to quickly release me. "I missed you." He said wrapping his arms around me and then placing a gentle kiss on my forehead. He small smiled before releasing me and standing to the left of me. "I'm sorry. How rude of me. Who is your friend?"
