Skylar tried to call her parents and even her brother but nobody answered. Then she remembered that her parents went to the ice rink to sign Logan up for hockey. She felt a relief knowing that her family was okay but she was still sorry for Jeffrey's dad.
On the way to the hospital, the police were informing them that someone broke into Jeffrey's house and the person who was breaking in was about to shoot his mom so his dad stepped in front of the bullet to protect his mom. They also informed him that there's a 50% chance that his dad won't make it. That's all it took to make Jeffrey cry. Skylar squeezed Jeffrey's hand for comfort.
When they arrived, the police men escorted them to the room that Jeffrey's dad was placed in. Its about 5 minutes since they got there and Skylar's parents returned the call. Skylar informed her parents about Jeffrey's dad and they rushed over to the hospital but by the time they got here. Only Mrs. Miller was allowed in the room. She was the only one that was allowed to spend the night in the room so Jeffrey said his goodbyes to his mom and dad even though his dad was unconscious and he would be for a few days.
When they got back to the house, Jeffrey didn't want to sleep alone so Skylar's parents agreed to let him sleep with her but only on the floor so he agreed. It wasn't long before both, Jeffrey and Skylar fell asleep.
