Nobody Compares (Jeffrey Miller)

Got to go. Chapter 35

"Mom, what's wrong?" Jeffrey said concerned as they walked in the door.

"Your grandpa got really sick after he fell down the stairs and he only has a few more days to live." Jeffrey's mom said trying not to cry.

Jeffrey didn't say anything. His eyes filled up with tears.

"It's gonna be okay." Sky said kissing Jeffrey on the cheek.

"Wh-when do we leave?"

"Tomorrow or the next day. I already talked to your parents, Skylar."

Skylar just nodded.

They stood there in silence until Jeffrey's mom spoke up.

"Why don't you two go pack up."

Just as Skylar almost walked out, Jeffrey stopped her.

"Don't leave me." Tears were building up in his eyes.

"Okay. I won't." Sky said in a whisper like voice.

They went up to Jeffrey's room to pack.

"You were really close to your grandpa, weren't you?"

"Yeah.."

"I know how you feel.."

"I thought your grandparents were still alive?"

"Yeah my dad's parents."

"Oh, I'm sorry.."

"It's okay. I was super little anyways but I do remember always having the best time with them when I was with them."

"Can we talk about something happy now, please?"

"Yeah!"

After that, they just sat there in complete silence. Finally there was a knock on the door that broke the silence.

"So I just talked to your father and he got tickets to leave tomorrow at three AM."

"Can Sky spend the night?"

"It's up to her."

He nodded and looked at Sky.

"Yeah I'll spend the night. But I have to go pack!"

"Lets go then!"

Jeffrey seems to be in a better mood. Hope he stays like this. Hate to see him hurt.

"You excited to go to California?" Jeffrey asked.

"Yeah! I'm excited to meet your family and be with you." I said.

He just smiled.

Jeffrey helped me pack everything I needed, we said our goodbyes to my parents and walked back to his house.

It was about 9:00 PM when Jeffery's mom came downstairs and interrupted Jeffrey and Sky watching their favorite show, Catfish.

"You guys need to go to bed because we need to be at the airport by 1:30"

"Okay!" They both said almost exactly the same time.

They went upstairs to Jeffrey's room and fell asleep right away. It was a long day for both of them.
