"Wake up!" Jeffrey's mom barged in.
They both jump.
"Ever heard of knocking?" Jeffrey said with his raspy morning voice.
"Sorry but at least you two are up now!"
Jeffrey groaned and slammed his head back on his pillow. His mom turned on his light, walked over and pulled the blankets off of them.
"Get up now!" She yelled.
"Give us five minutes."
"Okay, you better be up in five minutes!"
Three minutes later, Sky sat up on the edge of the bed staring at the ground.
"What's wrong?" Jeffrey said as he sat next to Sky.
"Nothing. Just super tired."
"Oh."
"Yeah."
Jeffrey's mom knocked on his door.
"Come in! Thanks for finally knocking!"
She opened the door.
"Just making sure you two are awake."
"Okay."
They both got out of bed, got ready, and sat on the couch waiting to leave.
Five minutes later, Jeffrey's parents came out with their luggage.
"You kiddos ready?" Asked Jeffrey's dad.
"Yup..." They both said in a tired tone of voice.
"You guys can sleep all day in the plane." Jeffrey's mom said as they walked out.
"Is it a one way plane?" Sky asked.
"Yeah." Jeffrey's mom replied.
"Okay."
The car ride to the airport was silent. They arrived at the airport at 1:45 AM.
"Dad, why do we have to be here so early?"
"So we can drop off our luggage, go through the security system and won't be late for the plane. You never know if the airport is busy or not. It's better to come prepared than not at all."
"Oh."
The airport wasn't packed at all. There was barely anyone there. While they were at the security section, they had to wait in line for what seemed like forever because they were right behind this old woman who had a bunch of jewelery on and forgot to take it off. Finally it was their turn, they took half of the time as the old lady.
"Are you guys hungry? We still have thirty minutes." Jeffrey's mom said to them as they walked in the food area.
"Yeah." Jeffrey said.
"What about you, Skylar?"
"Uhm. A little bit."
"Well what do.you guys wanna eat?"
Jeffrey and Sky looked around to see what restaurants there were and they spotted a small frozen yogurt place.
"Frozen yogurt!" Jeffrey said with enthusiasm as if he were a little kid again.
"Yeah!" Skylar said.
"For breakfast?"
"Mom, it's too early for breakfast.."
"Okay..."
They got frozen yogurt, ate it all before they had to go on the plane since outside food and drinks weren't allowed unless they were securely closed.
"Flight to California now boarding." The guy on the intercom announced.
"That's our flight." Jeffrey's dad said.
They walked though the little tunnel and sat in their seats in first class.
"Do you like window seats on planes?" Jeffrey asked.
"Uh... Sure?" Sky sounded unsure.
Ten minutes later, the plane was now leaving.
"Oh my god, the plane is moving!" Sky jumped.
"Have you never rode a plane before?"
Sky shook her head.
"Its really fun." Jeffrey said reassuringly as he grabbed her hand.
She kissed him on the cheek and layed her head on his shoulder.
The plane ride was about 5 hours and 40 minutes long but they finally arrived. The airport in California was super busy, it took them about thirty minutes to get out.
"Wait, how are we going to get to the house?" Skylar said as they were standing outside.
"We're going to get a taxi and then once we get settled down, we're going to rent a car." Jeffrey's dad replied.
They got a taxi and drove off. Ten minutes later until they finally arrived, Skylar had a bunch of thoughts running through her mind. She wanted to cry.
"Jeffrey.." Sky said.
"Yeah?"
"What if your family doesn't like me?"
"Don't worry, they'll love you." He grabbed her hand and walked out of the taxi into the house, Skylar couldn't help but to feel nervous.
