Jackie's eyes widened at the sight of a WW2 enlistment poster. You knew exactly what she was thinking because, well, you're her best friend. Both of you really wanted to enlist in the army and help kick ass, but being girls, you aren't allowed to.
"It really stinks we can't enlist," Jackie whined, brushing her hand over the inked paper and sighing. "Think of all the hot guys too..." She whispered the last part to you.
"Sweetheart, you're lucky you can't enlist," an unfamiliar voice responded. It was a good looking red-head wearing his uniform, and he winked at the both of you.
"There are men laying down their lives," you snapped. "I have no right to do any less than them."
Jackie gripped your shoulder to hold you back. "Steph, don't try and fight another person, please," she joked through the tension.
Once all the steam was out of your ears, she let go and you turned around. "Hot, but demeaning," you growled.
"Wanna go shopping?" Jackie asked, looking at her reflection in a nearby mirror and fixing her brunette locks. Fortunately for you, while she was fixing her hair, she saw a poster for the Stark Expo in the reflection.
"Oooorr," she whirled around with her blue eyes gleaming and pearly white teeth beaming. "Do you finally wanna go to the Stark Expo?"
"Hmm, I don't know," you hummed, looking at your nails with the other hand on your hip.
"Shut up, Rogers," Jackie groaned. "Let's go."
With barely any effort, she latched her hand on to your blonde hair and pretty much dragged you all the way to the Expo. Your eyes widened when you saw who and what was on stage.
"Howard Stark!" you gasped, as you and Jackie made your way through the crowd. "And a...flying car?"
You didn't pay much attention to anything after that because the floating car was so big, nothing else was interesting compared to it. That's when you spotted another girl, about your age, wearing a military uniform and bright red lipstick talking to two soliders. They seemed to be having a respectful coversation, for both sides.
That's when you decided you wanted to be just like her.
