Leahs pov
"Mr. Chapman" I call out to my boss and he quickly stops from his fast pace walking. "What Leah? What can you possibly need to stop me from rushing to a meeting?" he says with sarcasm.
"I-I wanted to know-"
"There's no time Leah. I gotta go. But do me a favor and bring this to the office you went to last time. You're free the rest of the day if you go now" he tells me and I shut up right away and get happy on the inside. I get to see Jen again.
"Okay sir" I said and quickly got my things and the files he gave me then I went down to the parking garage and left right away. He really gave me the rest of the day off? What a great boss he is. A dumb weird but fun boss.
Anyways
On my way I decided to go get me some starbucks.
Me: favorite drink from Starbucks?
I randomly texted jen.
Jen: iced white chocolate mocha in the morning. Double chocolate chip during the day and night. Or hot chocolate at night. I drink other ones but those are my top favorites.
She replied a whole list. I'm not getting all that. She did say double chocolate chip for the day and its past lunch so I'll probably get her that. I didn't even respond. I went straight to her job after Starbucks and surprised her with a drink.
"Leah!" She exclaims and walks around her receptionist desk to get to me and hugs me. "This is yours" I said. "That's why you asked?? Sneaky" she giggles and takes a sip of her drink. "Oh yes. That's the one" she says and sips it more.
"I gotta see that lady again for a bit. My boss sent me again. Luckily though because I get to see you" i said. "And we were just talking about that last week! Lucky me." She says.
"Lucky me" I said and she smiles.
She leads me to the office I had to go to. After I finished that up I went back out to the front desk to see her again.
"So..I- i was wonderiiiing.." I said and tapped my fingers against the sides of my phone. "Yeees?" She asks while looking up at me from her seat behind the desk giving me all her attention "What're you doing Friday night?" I ask her. My gut feeling ugh..
"I might have a few things but..why?" She asks and places her chin at the palm of her hand while her elbow was on the desk.
"Oh- damn- uh-never mind then" I nervously said. "Leah" "Okay..Saturday night?"
She shrugs her shoulders and smiles at me. I looked away.
"Just kidding. I'm free Friday night" she says. "Oh okay" I said. There was a long awkward pause after that. "And why do you ask?.." she asks. "Oh! Um- I was wondering if you'd like to go..see the LA zoo lights. You know the ones they put up for Christmas? I've never got to go..so I wanted to ask you" i said.
"I've been there! I love it. I'd love to go with you!" She says. "Greeeat! Can I pick you up?" I ask. "Sure" "8pm" I said. "Alright. 8 pm it is"
We look at each other for a few seconds. Then that same fucking guy comes up to Jen.
"We still up for Friday night?" He asks. It's like he heard our plan
"Um..I don't think I could make it" Jennifer tells the guy who I'm sure hits on her every damn day. He looks at me and I just press my lips and raise my brows.
"I don't think I've met you but I've seen you before" he says. "Yup. I haven't met you either. Your point?" I said and Jen quickly looks at me. "Leah" She hisses.
