Once every three months the council trucks come by to collect large, unwanted items from the street. In the lead up to the quarterly Council Clean-Up Day the neighbourhood's unwanted wares begin to accumulate on the roadside, some households put items out weeks before the designated day to the dismay of many of the elderly residents. Over the years, Ronald has brought home a lot of items left out for collection by the council. The first thing he ever brought back was a broken Walkman. Ronald took the Walkman apart to see why it wasn't working. He took apart his Dad's functioning Walkman for comparison. After a process of trial and error Ronald was able to replace the broken part with a part taken from his dad's Walkman. After that Ronald continued to bring home interesting items from the kerb-side. He couldn't believe his luck when DVD's usurped videos and people started leaving their VCR's out for collection. In the April of 2002 Ronald brought home 13 VCR's, he ended up with 44 by the end of that year. His garden shed is full of all sorts of found items; TV's, toasters, computers, microwaves, gaming consoles and vacuum cleaners. 2007 was a particularly good year for TV's.
