As a seven year old, being on a castle ship in the middle of outer space was not very fun to you. You like the Paladins and the Alteans, but other than them, it was soooooooooooo boring. They are usually off on missions, saying that it is "too dangerous" for you. Except for Lance, who always says it's "too easy".

You are lying in bed when Shiro walks in, back from his mission. He turns the light on as you eagerly sat up in bed. This was one of your favorite parts. Your father-figure telling you amazing tales of his adventures of stopping evil. He was the best at story time. He smiles at you and sits on the side of your bed, creating a dip that you lean towards. Sheer excitement is pretty much oozing from you as he opens his mouth to speak.

"Hey, kiddo." He says, ruffling your hair with a smile. You giggle at his fatherly antics. "Wha-what'd you do on your mission, Sh-Shiro?" You ask him. He thinks for a moment, before replying "We all got in our lions as soon as we got the signal. Algater was being attacked!" He starts, exaggerating his speech and hand motions. You gasp.

"Is that the gre-green planet with the pretty cr-crystals?" You ask, scared for your favorite planet's well-being. He chuckles at your concern, and shakes his head. "No, not the Balmera. This one was a big purple planet!" "PURPLE?!" You shout at the name of your favorite color. The other Paladins came rushing into your room at the sound of your shout. "What happened-" "Pur-purple! Purple!" You cheer out, and the Paladins realize that there was no threat, just Shiro's Fantastical story time. You named it yourself.

The Paladins end up sitting on the floor in front of him before he resumes telling the story. "We got to our lions without much argument-" "What're you talking about? Mullet head was about to blast out alone! He was being stupid!" Lance interrupts from his spot on the floor, glaring bullets into Keith, who was glaring right back. Shiro smiled and shook his head.

"The castleship was surrounded, so we had Keith and Pidge sneak around to see who was leading the fleet. While they did that, Allura got a signal form the lead ship!" "It turned out to be Sendak!" "Laaaaaaaaance!" You whine at the spoiler, and he sheepishly grins at you in return. "But it's true!" A voice came from the door way, making your expression turn into one of excitement.

"'Lura!" You called out to the Altean princess. She smiles and walks in, sitting on the bed next to Shiro. She proceeds to scoot behind him and rests next to you. A few days after your initial meeting, and convincing, and testing for any hidden cameras hidden on and/or in yourself, she finally opened up to you, and you became great friends. She smiles at you and you smile back and lean on her.

"Allura did her best to keep Sendak occupied while Keith and Pidge snuck around the back. Once they made it behind the ship successfully,-" "We shot them like, 'pew pew'!" Pidge cuts off Shiro, making a little finger gun as she made her gun sound effect. You giggle.

"That made most of the fighter jets fly to help the cruiser or at least turn towards it. And while they were distracted, the rest of us flew out of the castle and started attacking as well." Shiro continues. "Once about half the fleet was destroyed, the cruiser started firing the castle with the ion cannon, but Coran got the particle barrier up just in time!"

"We took out more of the fleet thanks to my amazing sharp shooting!~" Lance adds on, placing his chin between his thumb and forefinger. Keith rolls his eyes. "You couldn't hit a rock if you tried." He retorts. Lance gasps and opens his mouth to start bickering with Keith, when you cut in. "He-Hey! I-I wanna hear the story!" You say, stoping them from fighting any further. "Sorry (Y/n)." Lance replies, sheepishly. Keith just looks away.

"That's when Allura cut into the intercoms, saying-" "'There's another cruiser on the other side! It's getting ready to fire! You must stop it!' I remember it as if it happened just a dobash ago." Allura recalls. "Then I said, 'But Allura, what about you?!' And allura was all like 'Oh Lance you're too kind and sweet and handsome let me go out with you!'-" "I was not!" Allura cuts Lance's fantasy, making everyone laugh. "It was worth a shot." Lance mumbles.

"Allura said they would be alright, and that we needed to protect the planet. So we went over there as quick as we could, but since the planet was so big, we couldn't get there in time. The cruiser was already wreaking havoc on the planet!" Shiro says, making you gasp.

"Baby, I love you." Your mom says. Tears ran down her cheeks for an unknown reason. "In a few moments, it's gonna get really noisy. As soon as everything goes quiet, press the big blue button, okay sweetie?" Your dad asks. You nod your head. "Why is mommy crying?" You ask, making your dad tear up and smile sadly. "Because she's scared." "I thought mommy didn't get scared?" "Everyone does." "But why-"

"Baby, there's not enough time, we need to go." Your dad cuts you off. Your mom hugs you really tight, whispering how much she loves you. She lets go, and your dad hugs you, looser than her. He lets you go and they both smile sadly at you. There's a knock on the door, making your parents freeze. Your dad ushers you inside the little compartment. "Remember, when it's silent, push the blue button." They close the door, leaving you alone in the dark, tiny compartment.

Knock. Crash. Footsteps. Crash. Scream. Bang. Thud. Crash. Footsteps. Closer. Talking. Bang. Thud. Footsteps. Closer. Closer. Closer. Talking. Footsteps. Further. Further. Further. Thud.

Silence.

You could only hear what was happening, leaving a lot to your innocent mind. Did you dare step out? You wanted to see if your parents were okay. But they said not to. You push the blue button.

The compartment lights up, revealing that you were actually in an escape pod. The pod started shaking, signaling that you were lifting off. You curl up into a ball and cover your ears. The lights turn off again, leaving only one light source. You look around and find it was coming from a window. You slowly got up and wobbled your way over there. Outside was a big purple ship, and your home planet. Well, if you consider a big purple moon a planet.

All of the sudden, the ship made a purple orb, then blasted it at your planet. You could only watched as your home was blasted, making big craters in the surface. Debris drifted away from the planet. You could practically see your tiny home get obliterated into pieces. The ship didn't stop there, and soon, your home planet was—

Allura gently shakes your shoulders and reassuringly runs her fingers through your hair. Shiro smiles at you warmly. "We formed Voltron and cut the ship in half. We flew back to the castleship. It was good timing; the particle barrier was about to go down."

"And even though Sendak got away, we still saved the planet, and got it to join the alliance against Zarkon." Allura adds on, voice soft and gentle. "The end." Shiro concludes, making everyone start clapping, including you. "I-I love your story time!" You exclaim, happily. Shiro smiles as the other Paladins talk amongst themselves and start to leave. "I'll have to do it again tomorrow, then."

"INVITE US TOO!!" Lance calls out as they leave. Allura gives you one last side hug before climbing out of the bed, smiling at you one last time, and leaving. You lay down as Shiro stands up. He gives you a hug and readjusts the covers before turning around to head towards the door. "H-hey, Shiro?" You call. He turns back towards you and hums in response.

"Do you think we'll defeat Za-Zarkon?" You ask. He smiles and ruffles your hair. "Of course. We have strength, and each other, and motivation." "Wha-whats your motivation?" You ask him. He just looks at you lovingly. "To help you get better." He says gently. You smile at him, and he smiles back. He walks towards the door, turns off the light, and opens the door.

"A-And Shiro?" You say, and he turns around again. "Thank you." You say with a big grin. You then roll over and let your eyes flutter closed, but not before you see him smile.

"Goodnight, kiddo."
