Matt X Princess!Reader

————————————————————————————

You peeked around the corner into the main hall. You had never seen so many people. But the again, you've never really seen any people outside the many servants and your parents.

You are Princess (Y/n) of Helena, but no one knew that. For 'Safety' reasons, your mother made sure no one knew about you. You were ordered to go to your room and stay there while other people came. You could only go outside at night, and you still had to wear a long cloak that usually covered your line of sight, and have a guard by your side.

But thanks to your maid and best friend, Serena, you switched places with her so she would be locked up in the prison cell that is your room, while you explore.

You looked around the slightly crowded throne room. There were people wearing baggy pants and armored top. Some had goggles, some had staffs, some weren't even human. You watched with fascination as the group consulted with presumably your mom, the queen, but you couldn't see that much.

Suddenly you feel a tap on your shoulder. You yelp a little bit and jump in surprise. Who could it be? Mom?! Guard?! Maid?! You panic as you whip your head around quickly. You let out a sigh of relief as you realize it's a guy, but stiffen when you realize he's wearing the same outfit as the newcomers. An outsider...

"Oh! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to startle you!" He said. "It's okay. I'm not really supposed to be here anyway." You say, concluding he is no threat, and turning back to the crack between the doors. "What do you mean?" He asked. You racked your brain for a lie to tell him, while you kept your cool on the outside.

"I'm supposed to be on kitchen duty." You lie. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw him hive you a skeptical look. "Whatever you say, Princess." He said, making you stiffen and widen your eyes in shock. You quickly turn around, startling him a bit.

"How'd you know?!" You whisper-shouted at him. He gave you a confused look, then it contorted to one of shock. "Wait, you're an actual Princess?!" He whisper-shouted back. Then it clicked. He was flirting... You sigh. "Yes, I am-" you start.

"How come I've never heard of you?" He questions, cutting you off. "My mom makes sure I'm 'Safe'." You reply, making air quotations around 'Safe'. "I'm not allowed outside often, I'm not allowed out of my room when others are here.." You trail off. He gives you a look of pity. You turn back to the crack in the door.

"I'm Matt, by the way." He states, but your gaze is glued to the conversation happening in the throne room. "(Y/n)." You reply. You stand in an awkward silence for a moment.

"So, how often do you get out?" He asks. You turn away from the door and shrug. "Maybe..... Once a month. At most." You say, thoughtfully. "Well, do you wanna go out now?" He asks with a hopeful smile. You sigh and shake your head. "The guards would know that I've left as soon as we step through the front door-"

"Who said anything about a door?" He asks, his smile turning into a mischievous smirk. You cock your head to the side in confusion. He lets out a triumphant hum and sticks his hands in his pockets. He walks down the hall. You follow him.

After a couple minutes of him walking, and you looking around at the unfamiliar area, you reach a room full of small ships. Escape pods. You look around as Matt approaches one. You watch carefully as he hops over the side of it and into the chair. You approach the pod and attempt to do the same, but your maid's dress gets caught on the side. You groan as he chuckles.

He reaches his hand down to you, and you take it. You push the side with your feet as he pulls you up, but the dress wouldn't let you move. He yanks you up, and your dress tears. You flip over the side and expect to land on the metal flooring of the pod. But no. You land on his lap.

You both blush hard and look into each other's eyes. After a moment, you quickly squirm off and into the seat next to him. He turns his attention to the controls of the small ship. After pushing a few buttons and switching a few levers, the ship was off the ground. He firmly held the joysticks and steered you both out of the launch bay and into the night sky.

You had never seen such a breathtaking sight. The places you were allowed to go were surrounded by tall, shady trees. Your eyes reflected the thousands of stars dimly lighting the darkened sky. There were many colors that splashed across the sky like a painting. Matt flew you both closer to the edge of the atmosphere, where you could see the beautiful night sky more clearly. The stars weren't silver, they were colorful.

You look over at Matt, who was focused on flying. He was a really good pilot. You admired how dedicated and focused he was. Then, he slowed the pod to a stop. He looked over at you, and gestured to his head to look forward out the window. When you did, you were almost blinded by the thousands upon thousands of stars that lit up the crimson color that signaled the new dawn. You watched as a bright orb rose from around the edge of your home planet. It was beautiful.

You look back over at Matt, who was looking at you. You gave him a soft smile, and he did the same. You both subconsciously leaned in closer. As you were about to close your eyes, you spot something out Matt's side window. It hurled closer towards you at a fast pace. It was a asteroid.

"MATT, LOOK OUT!!"

CRASH.
