I looked in the mirror and gave myself a smile deciding I was happy with today's outfit.
Today Skai and I were having a girls day, which we haven't had in forever since Shawn came along. We were gonna go out for lunch and do some shopping. Shawn was busy all day because of a charity concert that his streaming company was setting up, TIDAL X. He's gonna come pick us up later and we're gonna go to the concert with him. It should be a great day!
I left my room and Skai was sitting waiting for me at the kitchen table.
"You ready?" she asked.
"Yep! Let's go!" I replied.
I sent a quick text to Shawn before heading out, "Hey baby, I know you're gonna be busy today but I just wanted to tell you that I can't wait to see you later and see all of your hard work come together at the concert! Text me when you get a chance and let me know what time you'll be coming over, love you 😘."

I took a sip of my lemonade as we sat together at lunch and Skai was filling me in on the latest drama going on in her group of friends.
"So then Melody told the whole school about how Naomi made out with her boyfriend at the party last weekend and they literally almost got in a fist fight in the middle of the hallway on Wednesday," she said before taking a bite of her sandwich.
I nodded along listening intently.
"So now they're trying to make everyone take sides and obviously I'm on Melody's side because he was her boyfriend but I'm not trying to get in the middle of anything. Like taking sides is not gonna help anyone in this situation."
I smiled, my daughter is so unproblematic.
"So did Melody break up with the guy?" I asked.
"No!" Skai said sounding annoyed. "Like is she dumb??? Naomi isn't the first girl he's hooked up with behind her back and I'm sure she won't be the last but that's none of my business," she said before taking a sip of her iced tea.
"Does she know all of this?" I asked.
"Mom...the whole school knows. She's just sprung on him because he's a senior and he's quarterback of the football team and all that but he's a huge tool," she said. "Whatever, talking about this is just getting me annoyed all over again, let's talk about something else."
I chucked and took a bite of my food. "So...." I said, "are there any boys that you're interested in?"
Skai shyly smiled as her cheeks turned bright red. "You don't even need to say anything the color of your cheeks gave you away!" I said laughing. "Spill, who is he?"
"His name is Jayson but I don't think he even thinks about me in that way so it's whatever," she said as she stirred her drink around with her straw.
