I walked through the halls and I saw TJ talking to Linda, who he had rejected. She was about to cry, and TJ was trying to comfort her. I stood close, listening to their conversation.
"Hey Linda, I'm sorry." TJ said, giving her a hug. Linda pushed him away. "No!" She said, "Your reason for rejecting me was because I wasn't pretty? What about Andie? She's pretty, but some day when she grows old are you going to reject her too? Because she's not good looking?" "No-" "Terrance Gilbert Sachez Junior, you are the meanest guy ever!" Linda said, and then stormed off.
I stumbled backwards. That was awful. There was no way TJ would do that... right? No, of course he wouldn't. Linda was lying. But Linda was usually so nice. But so was TJ. Wait, why would Linda lie. She didn't know I was eavesdropping. Nah, TJ would never actually do that to Linda. Or anyone. I mean, he texted me that, but he was trying to say that I was pretty.
All I could think of the rest of the day was Linda and TJ's argument, and I daydreamed about the dance.
