Jake wanted to hang out again. He never really had anything to do on Sundays, so I guess hanging out with me was his only choice. We met in his backyard, and sat on a blanket in the grass, playing checkers. "Addi, are you going to the dance?" Jake asked. "Yeah, duh." I said. "But you don't even go to that school." Jake said. "I'm planning on sneaking in." I admitted to him.
"Can I go with you?" Jake asked. "What do you mean?" I asked, focusing on my next move. "I mean, would you like to go with me to the dance?" Jake asked. I made my move, captured three of his pieces, then looked up. "You want to be my date to the dance?" I asked. "Not date, more like we would go as friends." Jake said, making his move quickly.
Honestly, Jake was horrible at checkers. Just like he was horrible at trying to get me to go to the dance with him. I captured his last piece, and set all his captured pieces on the board in a pile. "Jake, I'm sorry but I'm going with someone else." I said. "Good game." Jake mumbles as I stood up and walked off.
I opened the gate and walked down the sidewalk to my house. I wasn't actually going with anyone, but not gonna lie, I would rather go to the dance single than go with Jake.
