In E.L.A Emma wasn't there. That was the first thing I noticed. I had started to become a little scared of E.L.A and lunch because of Emma. Emma scared me. So when she wasn't there, I noticed. And then I realized she hadn't been at school yesterday either. "Do you know where Emma is?" I whispered to Danica, who sat next to me. "Yeah, she moved to some private school. Her parents thought this school wasn't testing her enough." Danica said, then huffed, "This school wasn't testing her enough? What a show off. People are failing some of these classes already."
Emma had moved schools? She was gone? Forever? Emma was gone forever. Emmalyn Murphy (I felt weird using her full name) was gone from my life!
All day I couldn't believe it. At lunch no one tormented me. Everyone at my table noticed how happy I was, but I didn't tell them. Kien even seemed happier. The entire school seemed to light up.
I no longer dreaded school. I loved it and I couldn't wait for my next class. The table at lunch where Emma sat was empty. The table was empty, which made my world feel full again.
