Steve

After school I walked to the DX. I would have drove but my car broke down and had to be fixed. When I walked into the store I seen a bunch of girls hanging around Soda. I don’t know how he can stand all of that attention.

Soda seen me and smiled. “Hey (Y/N), your car is in the garage. Steve’s almost done with it.”

"Have you been helping any?"

“Yeah, but I’m a little busy right now or I would help." I rolled my eyes. He seemed real busy.

I walked into the garage and seen Steve. He had the hood up on my car. He looked up at me and wiped his greasy hands on a rag and shut the hood.

“Your cars all fixed. Be carful with it though. You don’t want to mess it up again.”

“Alright.” After that there was an awkward silence between us. "Soooo...how long did it take you to fix it?" I'm sure Soda wasn't much help."

"Oh it didn't take to long. And Soda does help when he's not working at the cash register." Steve smiled, showing the gap between his teeth. His smile immediately faded and he turned away. He may be embarrassed by his smile, but I think it's cute.

"Has it been busy today?" I asked, hoping to start a conversation.

"Eh, not really. Unless you wanna count all those girls." Steve sighed. I kinda felt bad for him. Soda gets all the attention from girls but Steve doesn't.

"Well I know you're real good at fixing cars. Lots of people come here to get their cars fixed. You're probably the best worker here. Heck, I know you are."

"So? I don't wanna work here my whole life. I mean, I wanna do something with cars, but if I can't get a girl..."

"Don't worry about the future. Focus on what's in front of you. Focus on the present."

"Thanks (Y/N). That means a lot coming from you."

"No problem. If you ever have a problem, I'm here for you." I smiled. "Do you wanna take my car on a test drive? I mean, I need to know if you fixed it right." I winked at him and got into the passenger seat.

"I'm sure the boss won't mind if I take a little break." He smiled, and it didn't fade, and got in the car.
