"How was your night with Susan?" I ask Caspian as we walk along the courtyard. He tells me about how they danced to each song at the ball we held, and how he enjoyed seeing her smile and laugh.
"Where were you last night? I didn't see you."
"I was gazing at the fireworks."
"By yourself?"
"No... with Edmund." Caspian smiles. He has really warmed up to the idea about Edmund and I. "What?"
"Nothing... I just like seeing you smile."
"Remember when we use to pretend to be them, when we were little?"
"That feels like a lifetime ago."
"It was."
"Sire." One of the soldiers come and tells us that they are ready for us to give our speech about the homeland. Caspian and I head into the castle, through the great hall and outside to another courtyard where Aslan is currently busy talking to Peter and Susan. I wanted to talk with Peter before we do the speech, however he looks tense.
Caspian and I are about to leave when Aslan calls us over. I look into Peter's eyes which are filled with guilt, fear and sadness. "We are ready. Everyone has assembled." Susan looks to Aslan before looking to Caspian. My brother leaves.
"Your Majesty?" Aslan questions.
"Would I be able to steal Peter before the announcement?" Aslan looks to Peter and nods. Peter makes his way over to me, as Aslan and Susan walk away.
"Whats going on?" He asks me, his voice so soft.
"I just wanted to thank you for keeping your promise." Peter looks at me confused. "The promise you made before you fought Miraz..."
Peter chuckles, "you're welcome." I give him a smile, which he returns."Why weren't you at the ball? I was hoping to get a dance from the new queen."
"I was watching the fireworks with Edmund." an awkward silence unfolds. "What were you, Aslan and Susan discussing?"
"Oh that..." He looks saddened by the question.
"We don't have to talk about it." I try to state before he get even more sad.
"No its just that we were discussing when the four of us were heading back to England."
"Oh..." I am taken a back from his answer. I try to form words but nothing is coming out of my mouth. "When?"
"That's not important. What's important is this... Terrain, can I have this dance?" He holds out his hand, and smiles widely. I can't help but take his hand. He pulls me in close, puts his hand on my waist, as I put mine on his strong shoulder. Our other hands intertwine as we start swaying.
"Am I a bad person for not wanting you to leave?"
"No. I don't want to either, but we have to." I lean my head on his shoulder, both his hands are now wrapped around my waist. "Can you promise me something now?"
"Anything."
"Promise me that you'll cherish moments like this, forever."
"I will cherish moments like this forever. Especially this one." We continue to dance for a while. Just being in each others arms feels like we're safe from any harm. I don't want him or Edmund or any of them to leave. However they will so I'll cherish this moment until the end of my days, like I'll cherish every moment with them I had.One more chapter left!!!! Who's sad? Excited?
