Your hand shot up in a second, quickly followed by Remus.

“Yes, Ms.Y/L/N?” Professor Slughorn said.

You gave him the answer, smiling.

He nodded, grinning proudly. “10 points to Y/H.”

You beamed as Remus shot you a glare. The two of you had been… intellectual enemies since the very first day. Everybody in the whole school knew that the two of you absolutely hated each other.

“Now we will split you up into partnerships.” Professor Slughorn announced.

The class immediately started whispering amongst themselves, already choosing their partners.

“Forgive me, I meant I will split you up into partnerships.” He chuckled. Several groans were heard.

As Professor Slughorn split students up, you sneaked a quick glance at the brown haired boy. You watched as he furiously scribbled down something on his parchment, James looking over his shoulder and copying.

“Mr.Lupin and Ms.Y/L/N.”

The two of you looked up at each other, eyes widened.

“As the two of you are the brightest students in this class, I’m sure you will work excellently together.” Before anybody could object, he turned back to the rest of the class.

James let out a loud laugh, urging Remus to walk over to you. Reluctantly, he shuffled over to your table at the back.

The two of you worked in silence for a while. As you chopped up the last of the ingredients, he interrupted you.

“You’re doing it wrong,” he whispered.

You ignored him, continuing.

“You’re supposed to crush it.” He corrected, arms crossed.

You raised an eyebrow, putting down the knife. “And why should I believe you?”

He shrugged, pointing a finger to the recipe. “It says so.”

You scowled at him, opening your mouth to spit back an insult, when he shoved the book in your direction.

Crush the garlic.

“Whatever,” you muttered, proceeding to crush it with the side of the blade. Remus smirked in triumph.

“Oh, don’t act so smug about it.” You growled.

His smirk faded. “I wasn’t. I was just trying to help.” He replied.

“Yeah, sure. You’re just trying to embarrass me!”

“Embarrass you? Why would I do that?”

Fury boiled in your veins. “Why would you do that? You’ve hated me since the very first day!”

He widened his eyes. “Hate you?!” He scoffed.

“Well, what else would it be? You certainly don’t like me-”

“No, because I love you!”

The anger disappeared as you merely stared at him. “W-what?”

Remus closed his eyes, swearing to himself under his breath. “Nothing. Forget what I said.”

You dropped the knife, walking over to his side of the table. He stood there, frozen, as you took a dangerously close step towards him. Without thinking, you stood on the tips of your toes, and met your lips with his. For a bit, it was you who was kissing him, until you were finally kissing each other. His arms wrapped around your waist, while your hands held on tightly to his shoulder for support.

Judging by how long it lasted, the two of you were lucky that you were sitting at the back.

His cheeks went bright pink when you pulled away. “So… you feel the same way?”

You shrugged, smiling. “Maybe.”

He laughed, and the pair of you went back to work. Suddenly, he tapped your shoulder.

You spun around to face him. “What is-”

Your breath hitched in your throat as he bent down to plant a kiss on your cheek, taking you by surprise.

When he pulled away, he scrunched up his nose, deep in thought.

“You’re too short for me,” he mused.

You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. “What?”

“It makes it harder,” he ruffled your hair. “For me to kiss you.” He grinned, already enjoying the beginning of your relationship.

You gave a dramatic sigh, but couldn’t help but smile. “Shut up, you dork.”
