Cutest Couple on Campus: Young! Remus x Reader

“You look awfully preoccupied, love.” Sirius noted aloud, helping himself to the seat across from yours. Parchment upon parchment of notes were scattered across the tabletop, while a spilled bottle of ink was forming a stain on the floor. Haphazard strands of your Y/H/C hair poked out from a tousled ponytail; your thick-rimmed glasses kept slipping down your nose. You were exhausted. Merlin only knew what time it was – or how long you’d been studying.

“How very astute of you.” You snarled, carelessly, before immediately regretting snapping at him. “I’m sorry, pretend I didn’t say that. You shouldn’t trust what I say right now, I’m in a bit of a mood.”

“Where’ve you been, anyway? In here all evening? Remus has been searching across the castle for you. He sent me in here, James to the lake, and Lily to the astronomy tower. Very concerned with your wellbeing, that one. It’s like he’s your boyfriend, or something – oh, wait! I forgot! It only took you four years, but you’re finally an item!” Sirius, like a brother, pestered and poked around, all with a lopsided smirk plastered across each cheek.

Sirius and James -but mostly Sirius- took great pride in the idea of you and Rem dating. Sirius was your best friend during first year, and on the Hogwarts Express ride into second year, you two sat in the same compartment as Remus. There was a bit of underlying, 12-year-old awkwardness, but once you and Remus got talking about school, there was no stopping you. You spoke all the way through the ride, through the new sorting ceremony, through dinner, to the Gryffindor common room, and straight to bedtime, where your separate groups of friends had to pull you apart.

Over time, a litany of high-sexual-tension moments went down, until finally, a couple days after one particularly rough full moon, Remus came to your bedside in the morning, bloodied and bruised. “The boys don’t take as good of care of me as you do, Y/N.” His puppy dog eyes and pout won you over, and you gave in.

The pouting was cute and all, but you were still tugging yourself from the outskirts of sleep. “How did you even get up here? The stairs turn to a slide when guys try to climb them.”

“James taught me,” Remus hummed, clearly still half-asleep himself. “Come on, Y/N. Back to my dorm? Please?”

You didn’t need to be told twice.

“Alright, Moony, let’s go.” You pulled the sheets off your legs, stumbling out of bed, then guiding him to the door. His body felt so fragile under your touch; like he was a house of cards ready to collapse. You’d never seen him in such a battered state. It was scary how scratched his skin was.

When you got him to his own room, he fell to the bed with a quiet ‘umphf’, then cracked one of his Remus smiles. “Let’s ditch classes today – what do you say? The two biggest Gryffindor try hards blowing off all their work.”

“You’re on, Lupin.” You tossed yourself into James’s bed, knowing he was already to breakfast – gone for the foreseeable future. Sirius was still asleep in his own cocoon of blankets, but he could sleep through a hurricane, especially after full moon. Full moons were rough on all three of them. Each time, for the first couple days post-full moon, the Marauders didn’t dare wake up early enough for breakfast. Frankly, it was a surprise that James wasn’t still out cold. “What do you need, though? Your wounds have to hurt; they look so nasty.”

Before Remus could answer, there was a sudden thud, followed by a hissed, “Bloody hell, Prongs,” and a noticeable shift in Sirius’s position in bed.
