“You’re lying, there’s no way he said that to you. I don’t believe it,” Lily gasped.
“I’m serious, Lils. You should have been there, I wanted the ground to swallow me whole. It was the most embarrassing moment of my entire life.”
You shuddered as you recalled the events of your early morning lecture. While you could admit it might have been a tad bit inappropriate to act so friendly towards Remus, or as he so kindly reminded you ‘Mr. Lupin’, the way you addressed him certainly wasn’t enough to warrant the ill-mannered response he gave you.
“What’s funny,” you said after thinking back on the conversation, “is that in his little introduction he was all ‘I can’t wait to get to know all of you’ and then basically told me to fuck off.”
Lily let out a snort of laughter and took the last bite of her breakfast before getting a very serious, and somewhat alarming, look on her face.
“Y/N, remember that guy I told you about? The older one who has somehow been in all my chemistry elective classes since freshman year?”
“You mean the punk with glasses that won’t leave you alone? Yes, Lily, I vaguely remember the two thousand times you’ve complained about him.”
“Well, somehow, over the summer, he grew up quite a bit…and I’ve finally agreed to go out with him.”
“You’re joking. You’ve never had a positive word to say about him and now all of a sudden you’re starry-eyed over him?”
Lily’s cheeks turned a bright pink while she innocently sipped her tea, trying so hard to avoid the question at hand.
“Well, I might have always had a bit of a crush on him. It was just hidden, deep down, very deep down, beneath the hatred.”
“Lily Evans, I swear, you just might be the most confusing yet endearing person I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting.”
“I’m glad that you said endearing because he asked me to go to a party at his house tonight andImighthavesaidyouwouldcometoo.”
“Sorry, I didn’t catch that. Repeat. Slowly.”
“I told Chemistry boy that I would be bringing a friend. Obviously, that friend is you, because you are my best friend.”
“I have three things to say. One, you’re lucky it’s a Friday. Two, I’m glad you’re finally admitting your feelings. Three, I’m borrowing that light blue dress you wore last week.”
Lily mumbled a disgruntled “fine” and quickly downed the last of her tea before gathering her belongings so that she could head to her next class. Fortunately for you, your only Friday class was English, and after class ended at 9:45am, you were free to do whatever you wanted for the rest of the day.
Naturally, you spent your time in the library completing homework and studying since you doubted you would get anything done tomorrow due to chemistry boy’s party. You met Lily at your shared apartment after her last class ended and grinned when she pulled out her new blue dress.
“Y/N, if you spill anything on this, you’re a dead woman,” Lily whispered as she reluctantly handed you the dress.
