(Y/N)’s POV

Since your fourth year at Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry, you were terribly in love your classmate and fellow Gryffindor Remus Lupin. He and his best friends Sirius Black, James Potter and Peter Pettigrew were inseparable, so it was a miracle that the both of you had even become such close friends. Since last year, you were both meeting in the library every Saturday to study or just to chat about books, read or do your homework together. When the holidays started, you terribly missed him. So you two had wrote each other letters and when you saw him again at the start of this year, you were even more in love than before.

Remus and you had a lot in common, so you always found something to share with one another. Maybe that was the secret of your friendship. But after having a crush on him for so long with feelings that grew every day, it was getting harder for you to be so relaxed around him.

At first, you had just found him cute but there was not much more to it. Then his friend James started to hit on your best friend Lily Evans, trying to convince her to go out with him. That was when you really started to get closer to the boys. Or mainly Remus.

The thing was, you would graduate next year and chances were that your friendship to Remus wouldn’t last – depending on what you’d do after school. And you really hoped that he would fall in love with you before that happened.

You just couldn’t help it. He was the boy of your dreams and your heart was heavy with the knowledge that he didn’t feel the same, apparently. He was nice to you, yes, but he never tried to kiss you, he never asked you out, he never even took your hand although he had plenty of opportunity to do so. The only time you had really touched him was when you fell asleep on the couch in the Gryffindor common room and your head involuntarily rested on his shoulder. That had been awkward afterwards.

Lily knew of your dilemma. Every time you were sad, she tried to cheer you up. She was convinced that Remus was just shy and that he did like you but wasn’t brave enough to say or act on it. But you weren’t sure if that was true. Usually, Remus didn’t seem uncomfortable or uneasy when you were around. On the contrary. Maybe that was because he really only had platonic feelings for you.

A while later, you had been sitting in the common room with Lily and some other girls – trying to finish an essay for Professor Slughorn that was due after the weekend. You were nearly done when James and Sirius came running down the stairs, calling your name.

“(Y/N)!” Sirius called again. “Do you have a minute?”

“What’s up?” you asked, his stern voice making you jump up immediately.

“Remus wants to see you,” James explained. “Can you look after him?”

Nodding, you followed them upstairs. When you were there, the two boys plus Peter left the room so you were alone. Remus was sitting next to his bed. He looked tired and worn-out like he often did. Then something else caught your attention – a fresh scar on his forearm that looked like a scratch. He must have seen Madam Pomfrey earlier since it had been healed already. So that’s why you haven’t seen him all day…

“Hey,” you said calmly and sat down beside him. “What did you do? Are you okay?”

“It’s not as bad as it looks, just an accident on the Quidditich pitch…”
