You shot out of bed causing the pounding inside your head to hasten and become more intense. A low groan escaped you as you collapsed against the pillows, not ready to get up and face the day with your monster of a hangover.

You grabbed a pillow and snuggled into it, inhaling so that you could smell the familiar, comforting scent of your laundry soap.

However, the scent was not your laundry soap, it was manly and just as comforting, but altogether unfamiliar and alarming. You looked around the room in hopes of being able to recognize whose bed you had slept in, but nothing was familiar enough to give you a clue.

You quickly hopped out of the bed and stumbled out into the hallway, only to crash into chemistry boy James and fall onto the floor.

“Y/N? Did you just come out of Remus’s room?” James scoffed as he extended an arm to help you up off the ground.

“Remus’s room? Huh, that’s weird,” you mused as you stood.

“Yeah, really weird. I guess he told you then?”

You opened your mouth to ask what it was that Remus supposedly told you, but at the last second changed your mind.

“Mhm, yes, he told me.”

“Oh, good, I thought the whole thing was ridiculous. Acting like a dick because he didn’t want anyone to know how he felt about you? I mean, honestly, he’s a grown man, he should be able to keep his feelings in check for a few months. Remus isn’t really that great dealing with feelings anyway, though, and you’re the first girl he’s liked in ages. I don’t know how you didn’t notice; he looks at you like the fucking sun shines out of your ass and –,”

Suddenly, James stopped rambling as he took note of the shocked look on your face.

“He…he didn’t tell you, did he?”

“No, James, he did not.”

“Goddamnit, he’s going to kill me,” James groaned before running back into his bedroom and locking the door.

You quickly smoothed down Lily’s dress and your hair before descending the stairs at the speed of sound. When you reached the first floor, your eyes locked on Sirius’s as he stood shirtless in the kitchen quietly sipping coffee.

“Good morning, Y/N, did you sleep well?”

“Where’s Remus?” you asked through gritted teeth.

“I believe he stepped out for a bit to grab breakfast but he should be back shortly. Why? You don’t look like you’re in the mood to thank him for letting you sleep in his bed…”

“James has a big mouth,” you muttered as you took a seat at their kitchen table.

“Damn it, what did he tell you?”

“Oh, nothing much, just that Remus thinks the sun shines out of my ass. Which wasn’t shocking at all because that’s usually how people feel about you when they treat you like shit!”

“Y/N, listen, you have to let him explain. I’m not going to tell you that you won’t be angry, but at least give Remus the chance to explain.”
