I go through my front door and shout "Mama I'm home! Daddy home from work yet?" No reply. "Mama?" "Oh Katie Kate your home." Wait only one person uses that nickname on me. "Amanda! Your home from college!" I scream. Amanda is my 20 year old big sister. She's usually at college and rarely visits because she's super busy! I hug her super tightly. "Okay Katie Kate, I need to breath here." I release her and smile widely at her. The rest of the night is beautiful. All three of us sisters hung out and played games and just... Were with each other. I got ready for bed happily. Normally for school, I don't wear anything above the knee, or anything that swoops below the collarbone, and my hair is always up in some way, but when I sleep it's short shorts and a tank top with my semi long hair down. I was filled with so much joy! I danced across the room to my light. I flipped the switch and made my way to my bed in the dark. Thwack!! Probably just the wind. Thwack! Just ignore it and go to bed. Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Okay! Somebody's gonna die! I open my window, but then hear a distant sound of something flying through the air. Instinctively, I duck. An object flys through my widow and crashes against my wall with a CRACK!! I see a stick that has broken in half because of the impact. A stick?! Isn't it supposed to be rocks?
Not the point, the point was someone was throwing sticks at my window. My head shoots out of the window and I find a smiling Jake with more ammo locked and loaded. "Jake! What in the name of Chiminey Cricket are you doing?!" I yell/whisper. I get a hearty laugh in return. "Jake!! Shhhhh! You can NOT wake my parents." "I can't help it! Do you do that on purpose, or is it just natural?" He says in between laughs. "Natur... Not the point!! What do you want?" I hiss. "I want to hang out." I looked at my clock. 11:30. "Jake, really... Now?!" I question. "You pinkie swore anytime, anywhere." He stated confidently. "Okay, riddle me this..." Before I continue, he laughs some more. Good grief. "I know I talk funny! Hush!" He quiets down but I can tell he's suppressing a smile. I scowl, but continue. "Anyway, doesn't that seem a little drastic? I mean, we just meet a few hours ago. " he shook his head as if it wasn't a big deal. "Nah. I want to ask you some questions, and my curiosity won't let me sleep till I do." He smirks playfully. I roll my eyes.
"Where are we going?" I ask in defeat. "It's a surprise, but you might wanna change first." He motions to my outfit. Oh Crap!! He seen more of me then my parents do on a daily basis! "Holy mother of pearl!! Turn around!!" I shriek as quietly as possible. He holds his hands up in surrender, turns around, realizes what I've just said, and busts into a fit of laughter. This boy would be the death of me. I slip on my mothers old sweatshirt and jeans. It made me look like I was getting ready to watch movies and eat ice cream so I could get over a bad breakup. I didn't care. He already saw WAY to much of me for one day. I'm about to climb out the window, when he stops me. "Oh come on! At least just put a t-shirt on." Okay Katie, strangling is never the answer. A deep growl comes from the back of my throat as I turn around to put on a different shirt. As I tie my hair up, I hear a slight, "Well someone's grumpy." I make the noise again.
I slide out the window and jump to the ground with ease. I look at Jake, who seems a little shocked. "What?" I question. "I-I thought I might have to catch you or something. T-That was...AWESOME!!" I rolled my eyes. "Are you ready yet or are you just gonna stand there in awe?" He looks at me, snaps out of it, and nods. "Sure, best friend. Let's hop to it." He slips his arm around my shoulder, and this time I don't try to escape.
We are now walking through my small little home town. His arm is around me, and basically we just walk. I take this time to actually analyze Jake, which is different since I never have the courage to look at someone as popular as him. He was tall, with broad shoulders. His hair was dirty blonde and he had light brown eyes. They were beautiful eyes. He had thick hands, football hands for the quarter back he was. I had long, slim hand in comparison. He caught me staring and raised an eyebrow at me. I quickly averted my gaze to the sidewalk. "So... You wanted to ask me some questions?" He nods his head slowly. "Yes, well only one. I have two weeks, theres time for others. But I have a really big question to ask." I bite my lip. "O-Okay." I stammer. "Why do you hide away under t-shirts and jeans? Why do you tie your hair up everyday? Why does no one know your name?" There, there was the question I was hoping to avoid. I smile slightly and nudge him. "That's three questions." "Oh, uh, you know what I mean!" He says, ruffling my tied up hair a bit.
I take a deep breath. "Oh, um, well?" I say as sort of a question. I sigh. "The truth?" I ask. He nods. "The truth." Well, here goes nothing. "Okay." I prepare my speech in my mind. "It's just... Im SO average Jake. I'm not gorgeous like my sisters or out going like my friend. I'm so ordinary. I'm afraid if someone got to know me, and I grew attached to them, they'd get to know me. Then they would be disappointed in what they found and leave me broken hearted." He seems to ponder this. "What about Hannah Kate." "She's known me since birth. She knew more about me than I did at that age. I just trusted her enough to let her in." He furrowed his brows in concentration. "So what? Has this happened before, or do you just have trust issues?" I smile a little. "I don't have trust issues. Well maybe I do. But only because it's happened before." He softly nudges me. "Spill."
"You know Violet?" "Whoa! You mean super hot queen bee Violet? Wait, was that out loud." I smirk. "Yes, and yes, that Violet. In middle school she was my other best friend besides HK. She was funny and nice and was welcoming to me. Than she got to know me, and in front of the whole class during her presentation she told the class what an ordinary, awkward, horrible person I was and that my personality was the worst thing about me other than my looks." I let my side bangs fall in front of my face to hide the embarrassment. I knew he was looking at me. We had stopped walking, and we're standing by a lamp post. A silent tear fell, and I didn't wipe it away. Jake didn't say anything, he just pulled me against him. A few more silent tears fell, and I just leaned against his shoulder and let them slide down my face.
He releases me and pulls me to a bench. I was calming down now. The tears had stopped falling, but my face was still wet. I looked at him, and he just took his thumb and wiped my face dry. I smiled and chuckled gratefully. "Thank you." I said, through a stuffy nose. "Alright, now that I know, let's change this depressing mood shall we?" He clapped his hands together. Now I was fully recovered except for my slightly stuffy nose. "Yes, let's." He looked at me, then my tied up hair, and finally my glasses. "Okay. You wanna do something you've never done before?" I smiled. "Bring it on." He smirked. "Alrighty. I've never seen you without your glasses off or your hair down. Well I've seen your hair down tonight, but you know what I mean." I finally got what he was trying to do. "No, I will not take my glasses off, nor will I remove my hair tie." I state proudly. "Come on do something spontaneous for once. Please?" I stuck my nose in the opposite direction. "Nope." I said, popping the p. He gave me puppy dog eyes and a quivering lip. I couldn't resist. That's how Emily got me to cave into things.
"Fine, but only because you look so pathetic." I state. He pumps his fist in the air with a little, "Yes!" He watched me intently as I removed my hair tie and slipped it on my wrist. I then slipped my glasses off, and with all the courage I could muster, looked at him. He was smiling. "Now was that so hard?" He questions. "Yes," I lie, "I almost died!" I said, being over dramatic on purpose. He laughed a good laugh, and this time, I laughed with him.
He brought me home and boosted me up to my window. I smiled at him, and he smiled back. "Goodnight Katherine." I scowled. "Way to kill the moment." I say. He smirked. "We were having a moment?" He asks. I blush and bite my lip. "Um..." "Just messing with you Katie. So easy." He replies. I roll my eyes. I'm about to turn around when I hear a, "Oh, and Katie?" I look at him. "Yes Jake?" "Don't blush or bite your lip, it really turns me on." I gasped a little. He smirked at me, then turned around and left.

My fellow Wattpadians,
Here I proudly present... chapter 4. How was it? Huh? Was it awesome? Did it suck? Did you cry? If so, did you cry because it was sad, or because it stank? I need feedback. I appreciate you all! Love y'all!

What could go wrong?
Novela JuvenilKatie is not like the other girls in these books, who claim that they're not pretty but really are. She's just genuinely not good looking or special. Jake on the other hand is exactly like the stereo type. Cocky, egotistic, arrogant, shall I go on...
