Let's just say I was pretty sure I broke my fist. That dudes jaw was really hard! What I was more upset about was my friends and boyfriend's reaction. They didn't think I had it in me. Violence was never my thing, and I loved everybody. The one thing I never tolerated was violence against other people. So yeah, I preferred words, but that didn't mean I was weak, that I couldn't handle myself. I could, and I wanted to prove it. But I couldn't. I didn't usually show that much strength. I was venting to myself in my room. I was pacing, bit my mom said all that pacing made HER worried, so I had to stop. I decided taking a walk would clear my mind.
When I had something on my mind, I usually mumbled to myself. I wasn't paying attention to where I was heading. I was playing with my fingers, mumbling to myself. Then, a hand went over my eyes and another wrapped around my stomach and picked me up. A deep voice said, "Give me all your money." My foot came down on the mans shin, and when he cried out, I broke free from his arms. I put my fists up, ready to fight, but then I saw who it was. "Jake!" I covered my mouth. "Dang girl! Watch that foot!" I cringed. "What are you doing?!" He chuckled. "Trying to scare you. Apparently not a good idea." He lifted his leg and was holding his shin. "I'm so sorry!" He shrugged. "Nah, it's okay. I'll just get you back." My eyes widened. He charged at me, and before I could run away, gathered me into his arms, bridal style. I laughed hysterically while he spun me around. He looked into my eyes, and stopped spinning. He put his forehead against mine, eyes closed. "You're beautiful." I closed my eyes too. "Thank you. It means a lot that you think that." I opened my eyes, and saw him scanning my face. "I love you." He looked touched, like I actually reached in and touched his heart. "You've never said it first." He put me down, looking astonished. "You've never said it first." He repeated. I put my hand on his cheek. "Well, no, but that doesn't mean I loved you any less before." He looked deep into my eyes. "This means a lot to me." I moved my thumb back and forth. "I know it does." He leaned down, and looked like he really wanted to kiss me. I decided to mess with him.
I leaned close, and my lips just grazed his, but before he could get any closer I broke away and ran for it, laughing all the way. "Hey!" He called. He ran after me, I could here his feet pounding on the sidewalk behind me. Eventually, he caught up to me, as always. He grabbed my waist and spun me around again. When he stopped, he put me down and spun me around to face him. He kept his hands on my waist, and leaned close again. "Now that was just mean." He said in a quiet voice. "Oh come on, it was funny." I had the biggest smile on my face, hands against his chest. I could feel his heart pounding. He leaned in again, but his arms tightened around me. "You can't leave this time." I smiled. He leaned extremely close, and the time I didn't break away. He put his lips on mine and kissed me passionately. We heard a car driving by but chose to ignore it. That is, until we got drenched with water. We turned to the car, and saw Charlie driving and River in the passenger seat. "What the crap?!" I called. "Hey! I warned you I would turn the hose on you young-ins." River calls. Charlie is holding two bottled waters. "Dude!!" Jake calls. "Not cool." They are all smiles. I walk over to the car and stick my head in. I wring my hair on Charlie's pants, so it makes it look like he wet them. "Hey hey HEY!!" He shoves me out. "Really?!" He whines. "You deserved that!" I retort. "Whatever, get a room!" He shouts as Charlie drives away. "Ew. I'm good." I say. Jake laughs and kisses me again.
My life was pretty good. I had a boyfriend, my friends, my family, nothing could go wrong. Of course, when someone says that, something almost always goes wrong. I mean, no ones life can be that perfect, life just doesn't ever allow that. So I was just waiting for something to go wrong. Anything, but nothing came up, and it was causing extreme anxiety. I was telling this to Hannah Kate in the school court yard. "No one life can be this perfect. Something is going to go wrong, I just know it." She sighs. "Nothing happens like in the movies. Who knows? Maybe your life will just stay perfect." She says. "But this never happens, ever. What do I do?" She shrugs. "You can't do anything if you don't know what's going to go wrong. Just let the matter be." She says, and so I tried to let it go.
"Hey y'all!" Riane calls as she plops down next to us. "Did you hear? River and I are fixin' to have a party. No matter what he says, it's my party." She says. "Okay, we'll be there." "What?!" I say, flustered. "I've never been to a party before! I don't know how to act, or what to do, or who to talk to, or even what to talk about, or..." "Would you stop?! Take it easy, you'll be fine." HK reassures. I scowl at her, but I know she's won.
I stare at myself. I never wear dresses, so this was new. It was teal, which made my blue green eyes come out a little more blue. It came to my knees, was form fitting around my... torso, and didn't have any straps. "Come on out!" HK shouts. When I step out of my bathroom, she stares back at me. "Wow! Who knew you had a girls body under all those sweatshirts and sweat pants?! Wow." I narrow my eyes, but smile.
"We're here!" She announces even though I was driving. "Yeah, I noticed." I chuckled. We got out of the car, and people were everywhere. I started panicking. "This is a bad idea! This is a really bad idea! Let's go home." I tried to turn around, but she linked arms with me and started dragging me towards the house. "No! You can't make me!" "Katie! You're acting like a toddler." She says. I calmed down. "Fine. I'll try to enjoy myself." I say, trying to convince myself. We walk in, and music is blasting. Someone tries to hand me a red cup, but I refuse. "Where's Jake and Jimmy?" I yell. "Jake is babysitting his sister and Jimmy is with his family!! But River and Charlie are here!!" She screams back. Oh great, the two people who don't like me. Fun.
We go to the kitchen, and talk/yell while leaning against the counter. Someone walked in and shoved a cup in my hand. "Here you go, sweetheart. On me." He slurred, then walked off. I scoffed, and tossed its contents into a plant. "You just watch. That plant is going to be dead by night fall." HK laughed at my "Drake and Josh" quote. It was then when we heard a crash, and people started to crowd into the living room. "Fight fight fight fight!!!" They started chanting. "Should we go see what that's about?" Hannah Kate yells. I nod. "That's probably a good idea!"
We go to the center of the living room, pushing our way through, and are shocked at the two people in the middle. "Charlie!! River!!" Hannah Kate screeches. We see Riane off to the side. We push our way to her. "Riane!!" I yell. She looks at me, popcorn in hand. "What?!" "How long have you been watching this?!" She shrugs. "Since it started! It's a good fight!!" She shouts. "Riane!! Seriously?!" I yell. She shoves popcorn in her mouth. "What?!" I push her into the center. "Help us break it up!!!" "But it's so good!! Who needs television?!?!" She shouts. My jaw fell open and my brows furrowed. "Riane!!! This is serious!!" She scowls, but accepts defeat. "Fine." She goes between them, which made them stop for a second. Before they could go at it again, she took River's ear and dragged him out of the circle. "Ooo!!!" Everyone said as she brought him into a room and slammed the door. The crowd spread apart. HK and I went towards Charlie. "Charlie!" I yelled. He was taken aback by my outburst. "What?!" I grabbed the collar of his shirt and dragged him towards the door. "Hannah Kate!! Come with me!!" She followed close behind. I brought him to the front porch, and released his shirt. "What the crap was that about?!" I shout. He rubs his shoulder, which was probably dislocated. I knew I would probably have to reset it. "Let me fix you shoulder." Before he could respond I sat him down. "What were you thinking?!" I say, grabbing his wrist and putting my foot on his shoulder for leverage. "You were just driving with him last weekend. Why would you do that?!" One big pull, and a loud scream from Charlie, and his shoulder was back in place. "Katie!! Do you know what you just did?!" "Yeah. I fixed his shoulder. Done it a million times. Now, you're going to tell me what happened." I say, pointing to Charlie. "The entire story." I say. He glares at me, rubbing his shoulder again. "Fine. You see, I was talking to Riane, and I guess I was a little too close. I don't know, something bothered him. So he accused me of doing stuff to her that I didn't even do, I got mad, he got mad, someone threw a lamp, and he swung at me. I was just trying to protect myself." I put my hands on my hips, but I believed him. "Alright alright. I think it's best if you go home." He nodded, and hopped down the stairs. "Well, you handled that like a true mom." Hannah Kate pipes in. I shove her, and head back inside to find out how Riane was doing with River. Hopefully we could get this sorted out.

What could go wrong?
Подростковая литератураKatie is not like the other girls in these books, who claim that they're not pretty but really are. She's just genuinely not good looking or special. Jake on the other hand is exactly like the stereo type. Cocky, egotistic, arrogant, shall I go on...
