I'm sitting here twisting and untwisting my hands. It was Friday, and I was terrified. Hannah Kate calls me. "What is it? Why do you need me? Are you getting robbed?" I was texting her to call me because I was in desperate need of her. "No. I'm fine. But I need your opinion." She sighs. "You could of told me that. Or at least gone without using all caps. What do you need?" "Jake asked me out." "Duh, I thought you were already going out." I let out my breath. "On a date. An actual one where he doesn't surprise me by throwing sticks at my window." She squeals so loudly I have to hold the phone away from my ear. "That's so exciting! Wait, why do you need me?" "Um, what should I wear?" She squeals again. "I knew you'd come to me for fashion advice sooner or later. Wear your teal dress." "Yeah, I thought of that but..." Click. Ok then.

This so called dress was jeweled at the top and had a tutu bottom. It came to my mid thighs. I smoothed it out. He would be here any second. My parents were out, I made sure of that, and only Emily was home. My parents knew I was going out with Jake, they just hadn't met him. Emily would be the first. As if on que, the door bell rang. "I'll get it!!" Emily calls. I walk to the front of the stairs and peer down at them. "Why hi there!" Emily says in a sing song voice. "Hi. You must be Em." "Emily actually. But I've been mentioned?" She asks. He chuckles. "Many a time." He seemed completely confident. "All good things IM SURE!" She calls, making sure I heard it. I roll my eyes and make my decent down the stairs. "That's enough squirt. Leave the poor boy alone." She looks at me with narrowed eyes. "The only reason he's poor is because he has YOU as a girlfriend." She snarls. "Alright alright. I guess I deserved that for calling you squirt. Run along now." She seems hesitant, but finally she stomps into the living room.

I get to the door. "Hi." I say, tucking my hair behind my ear. "What are you wearing?" I look down at it as if I have to remember. "A dress." It's kinda cold out. Why don't you change into what you were wearing the first time you came out your window." My mothers giant sweat shirt and jeans. I smiled gratefully and rushed upstairs to change. I came back down and he was leaning against the door post, bending down and petting my cat. I smiled. "You like her?" He looks up at me. "She's the most friendly cat I've ever met. She's beautiful to." Both were true. My cat was white from the chin down. From the nose up she was striped with gray and black. There was a white diamond on her back. "What's her name?" "Lily Belle. Lily for short." I reply. He stands up and scans me. "Perfect. That's the Katie I know." He motions to my attire. I smile and do a twirl, then pose like a model. He laughs at this. "Goodbye squirt!" I call. I hear her growl in reply. Now we're both laughing.

"Where are we going?" He sighs. "Fine, I'll tell you. We're going to my house so you can meet my brother and father." I clap my hands. "Yay! Exciting." We pull up in his driveway. His house wasn't big or small, tannish color with two stories. "Beautiful house." I comment. He waves it off. "Oh, your not afraid of dogs are you?" "Absolutely not. I love dogs." He raises an eyebrow. "Even if they jump all over you?" "All the more friendly." I comment. I open the door, and once I slam it shut, a big golden retriever rushes towards me and puts it's big front paws on my shoulders. I bend down and scratch behind his soft ears. I petting him until he just sits down and let's me rub him. "What's his name?" "Her. And Sandy." I laughed. That was stereo typical.

In his house, a deep voice immediately calls out, "Jake! Is that you? Sandy rushed out there so you must have your girl. As you promised." Out steps what I would guess Jake would look like at an old age. Except for his eyes, Jake was the spitting image of his father. Once he spots me, his eyes light up and he makes his way over to me. "Let me have a look at you. Oh Jake, did you ever pick the brightest of the bunch. Beautiful eyes darling, and lovely hair. Oh you'll do fine in this family, very fine. I'm Dave by the way." He sticks out his hand. I take it. "Very nice to meet you Dave. I'm Katie." He raises an eyebrow at his son. "Good manners to. Oh, where are mine? You should meet Jakes brother. Nathan!" He calls toward the stairs.

Down walks a boy with Jakes hair, but a different face. More narrow than his fathers. He looked to be 14. "Nate my boy. This is the girl we've been hearing so much about. Meet Katie. Katie, meet Nathan, my 15 year old son." I was close. "Hi." He says, looking at the floor. "Very nice to meet you Nathan." "You can call me Nate." I nod, as if he can see me. "Will do." His father then urges me into the living room, sitting me down and asking me questions. Who are my parents, what siblings do I have, what do I want to be? A lot of stuff. Around the 6th question, Jake stands up. "Alright dad. I think you've pestered her enough." He sighs. "Your probably right. Sorry." "Oh no no that's ok. I enjoyed talking with you." I say. His face lights up with gratitude as he walks into the kitchen. "Why don't you take your girl on the trail?" He looks at me. "Good idea dad."

This so called trail was behind his house and went deep into the woods. The autumn colors were showing, red and orange and yellow. They were everywhere, and it was very pretty. We soon hear the crunching of leaves behind us as Sandy trots over to us, walking along side Jake. "I'm sorry about my dad. He can be a little... Anxious." I waved it off. "Are you kidding? I loved him, he's so sweet." He smiled. "Your amazing, you know that?" I shrug. "Yes, I know I'm great." He laughs out loud. "So, I've been mentioned?" He laughs nervously now as he scratches the back of his neck. "Um, once or twice?" He says like a question. I raise an eyebrow. "Or... Multiple times." I take his hand and stand on my tippy toes and kiss his cheek. "Thanks. That's really sweet."

We reach a tree, good for climbing I noticed. And that's exactly what Jake started doing, climbing. I stared at him as he got higher. "You coming master climber?" I shake my head, and begin climbing. I soon reach the brach Jake is sitting on, and he pulls me up. "That was fast." He comments. I shrug. "Ten years man." I sit back and lean my head on his shoulder. "It's beautiful." I state. "It really is." He says, slipping his arm around me. I look at him and he smiles. He taps his temple. "Why don't you give me a little something, right here." I roll my eyes, but I couldn't say no to that face. I lean in to kiss him there, but at the last second he turns his head and I catch his lips instead. I back away instantly and fake hurt. "You lied to me!" I exclaim. "But you liked it." I was trying so hard not to smile. I stuck my nose in the air away from him with arms crossed over my chest. He put his chin on my shoulder, and I turned to look at him.

He was pouting like a child. My smile broke free as I kissed his forehead. "Your nuts." I tell him. He sits up, putting his arm back around me and pulling me closer. "Yeah, nuts for you." I snort. "Ooo, clever." I say, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh stop being so smart." He says. I look up at him and smile as big as I can. He chuckles and says, "And you think IM nuts." "We're both crazy, together." I state. And with that, he leans down and presses his mouth against mine. My lips move in sync with his as the kiss continues. His arm tightens around me, and I place a hand on his chest. When we break away, he smiles for a second before kissing me again. This one was shorter, and after it he cupped my face and put my forehead against his. We stayed like this for a while, and then he kisses my nose. "Come on. My dad and Nate will be worried." And with that, we want scurrying down the tree, holding hands as we walked back.
