Best Friend's Love Story

Katie's POV

I wake up right next to Jake. I smile, knowing he slept better with me there. Untangling myself from him, I push myself up off the bed. I lean down and kiss him on the forehead. He stirs a bit. "I'm leaving Jake." I whisper. Groggily, he lifts a hand and waves goodbye. I pick up my keys, and head put the door. Opening the front door as quietly as possible, I sneak out. Smiling to myself as I drive home.

As I arrive home, Emily comes running towards me. "Katie your back! Are you okay? Are you pregnant?" My eyes widen at the question. "Absolutely not. We did nothing of the sort." I reply as calmly as possible. She puts her head down in disappointment. She takes her phone out of her pocket, and holds it to her ear saying, "Alright. You win the bet Amanda. She didn't. Uh huh. Uh huh. Uh huh. Okay, here she is." She hands the phone over to me and I snatch it. "Amanda!" "Hey kiddo!" "You made a bet with the squirt?" She laughs a bit. "Thank you, for being the good girl I helped raise!" I giggle. "You're only saying that because I helped you win a bet." She sighs. "Alright. Brad is here, gotta go!" "Bye Amanda!" I exclaim. "PEACE OUT MANDY!!!" Emily calls from somewhere in the house. We hang up, after I tell her to say hi to Brad for me. He has been her boyfriend for almost 3 years now. I run up to my room and shut the door, immediately pulling out my phone. It just started buzzing like mad.

HK: EMERGENCY!! ANSWER RIGHT AWAY!! KATIE, ARE YOU THERE?!?! ANSWER ME!!!

Me: Whoa calm down.

HK: COME OVER NOW!

Me: Right after you take your caps off.

HK: Fine. Now come over!

I drive quickly over to her house. Knowing Hannah Kate to over react a bit, I knew she wasn't in deep danger, but she probably really wanted to talk. I pull up, and find the key under the little statue up front. I've been over so many time I can just let myself in. After I open the door, I instantly see her 3 older brothers around the TV. "Jonathan. Matthew. Nathan." I say in greeting. "Katie." They respond in sync. "Hey, where's..." I'm cut off by the screams due to a touchdown or goal or something like that on the TV. "Wait." I peek my head around the corner and see HK pigging out with her brothers and shouting at the TV just like them. "Hannah Kate!" She barely glances my way. "Oh hey. You came." I grab the remote and pause the TV. "HEY!" All four shout. "Sorry, but Hannah Kate, you don't just send me an emergency text message to come over when you're sitting here focused on something completely different! Focus!" I say, clapping my hands together twice.

She gasps. "That's right! Sorry boys, but we girls need to talk." Matthew waves it off. "Whatever. But we're not pausing the TV." She accepts defeat but thumps her brother anyway. "Ow!" He calls, but that's all I hear because Hannah Kate is dragging me towards her room. She quietly shuts her door, and sits me down on her bed. "Alright, you're a girl right?" My shoulders slump. "Well if not I've been buying the wrong underwear." She scowls. "You know what I mean! Like a tee-heeing hair twirling girl." I groan. "Fine." Then in a high pitched voice. "So Hannah Kate Oh my gosh, like, what happened, like, are you, like okay?" She smiles. "Nice use of the likes." I'm getting anxious and reach over and shake her shoulders. "ENOUGH STALLING, IM GETTING ANXIETY HERE!! WHAT HAPPENED?!?!" She bites her lip. "You know Jimmy right?" I nod in recognition. "Yeah, tall, blonde hair, brown eyes, southern accent, who you've been obsessing over since you were in third grade..." "Alright I get the point." She stops me. "So, what about him?"

She smiles. "He asked me out and kissed me." I nearly fall off the bed. "WHAT?!?!?! OH MY LANTA!!! DETAILS!!!" She laughs. "Okay okay. I was tired of the on and off signals, so I just went up to him with new found courage and was all like, 'Look, I can't tell if you like me or not, you're sending me mixed signals.' And he was like, 'Well, do you like me?' And I didn't know what to say, so I told him the truth, and he lit up like a Christmas tree, going on about how he's liked me for a while now and stuff like that. So, he just asked, like just plain asks if I'll go out with him." "And what did he say?" I ask, as if I don't already know. "Well, yes of course! And he was so happy he kissed me with all his might. Then he realized what he was doing and quickly pulled back, apologizing like a doof. And I was smiling like an idiot, and kissed I him again. It was... Better than I imagined."

I squealed. "That's AWSOME. You're so courageous HK." She blushed. "Thank you. Sooooo, off of me, how are you and Jake?" I had hardly thought about that since I got here. When I started thinking about him I flooded with affection and care for him. "I really like him Hannah Kate. Like, a lot." "Do you love him?" She asks. "I don't know for sure. Maybe?" I shrug. "I have no idea, but what I do know is that I'm friends with Jimmy as well, and will set up your first date." Her eyes widen. "You will not!" "Oh, but I will!" I call as I head downstairs and put on my jacket before she catches me. "Goodbye boys! As always, it's been a pleasure!" I call. "Bye Katie!" Nathan calls, closest to our age. "Hope we can do it again sometime." The oldest and most polite Jonathan says. They look expectantly at Matthew, who glances my way and gives a peace sign with a simple, "Peace out Schwab." Using my last name instead of my first. I roll my eyes but it's Matthew, you can't expect much. I run out the door and drive home, and when I look at my phone Hannah Kate has texted me, You better plan well. I smirk, knowing this was going to be fun.

Wassup my peeps!

I'm so sorry it's been so long since I've updated. My excuse is the same as always, school. THAT CURSED BUILDING IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!! I have a lot on my plate, but thank you all for being so patient. Huge shout out to hk_singing! She's on here, and she's awesome! She's my bestie and my best friend in the story. Also, a big shout out to her brothers! Now they aren't on this app as far as I know, but I used their characters. Thank you Hannah Kate, Jonathan, Matthew, and Nathan! (Sorry if I spelled your names wrong.)
