I was sketching in my room when my mother came in. "Hey sweetie." She cooed. "How you holding up?" I chuckled. "I'm fine mom. It's just a bruise." She sighed. "I know. It's kind of hard not to be a mama bear with three girls, and ones away at college!" She exclaimed. I laughed. "Thanks mama. I needed that." She smiled. "Your welcome." My mother was beautiful. Bright blue eyes, strawberry blonde hair, good looking for 43. Out of all of us, I looked the most like her, which is why I don't understand why I look the way I do. Amanda and Emily got their beauty from her, but looked more like my father. Ugh, life is unfair. "Hey," she said, stroking my hair. "Me, your father and Emily are going to a friends. You were invited but I told them you didn't want to come. We'll be back around 12:00." I smiled. That was the bond between my mom and I. She didn't even have to ask and she already knew I'd been through enough today.
All of a sudden, that same noise from a few nights ago came at my window. Thwack! Oh crab cakes! Was he throwing sticks again!! "What was that?" My mother questioned. My eyes widened. "Nothing! It's just the wind! It happens all the time, pfft!" She narrowed her eyes at me but took the bait. "Okay, call if you need any thing." I nodded and she left. Thank goodness! I ran to my window and opened it. "What is with you in sticks?" I cried. It was dark, but I could tell he was smirking. "Listen, my parents and sister are leaving, so you're going to have to go where you can't be seen." We heard a car engine start. "Go!" I exclaimed. Just like that he leaped into the bushes. Well that's one way to do it. They drove off, and he clambered out. "Ok, that happened." I said. He brushed himself off as I ran down the stairs to the front door. I opened it to see him picking thorn branches off him. I grimaced. "Ooo, right in the rose bushes huh?" He yanked a branch off and yelped. "Here, you can't do it like that. Let me. Come in." I hold it open and motion for him to enter. He nods slowly, and walks in. I shut the door and lock it. "Take a seat." I call as he wanders into the living room. When I get in there I sit next to him on the couch.
I sighed heavily. "Well, what an entrance." He smirked. "Really? I think I could have done better." I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, like something that doesn't cause you to be in pain." That's when I start picking the branches off him. I try to be gentle but he winces every time a pick out a thorn. "Woo, done." I say. "Ok, how long is the fam gone?" I shrugged. "Til midnight." I state. He smirks. "Alright then, let the fun begin." And so it did. We played some board games and wii and now we were sitting around wondering what to do next. "Hey, I know." Jake said. "Let's play truth or dare." I nodded. "I could be down with that." He shook his head. "You talk so funny." I raised my eyebrows. "What was that?" He held his hands up in surrender. "Nothing. So shall we start." I smile. "Absolutely. Truth or dare?" He thought for a second. "Truth." Ha! Most people are the best at dares, but I come up with some pretty good truths. I thought for a second.
"What was the last lie you told?" He didn't even have to think. "No mom. Just going to Charlie's." I laughed. "So, truth or dare?" It went on like this for a while, I had to eat a tablespoon of ketchup, resulting in me running up the stairs and brushing my teeth vigorously, while he admitted to wetting his pants in kindergarten. I sighed. "This was fun." He cocked his head. "Was? I still have one more." I rolled my eyes. "Fine. Dare." He looked shocked. "No, you have to pick truth." My eyes narrowed. "Well I pick dare." "Fine, then we're playing truth or truth." I furrowed my eyebrows. "Excuse me?" "Truth or truth." He stated. "It's a thing!" "No it's not." He thought for a moment. "Well I'm making it a thing." I sighed. "Fine. Whatever, truth." He smirked. Mischief danced in his eyes. "Have you had your first kiss?"
My eyes widened. "I-I'm not telling you that!" I exclaimed. "You have to! It's in the truth or truth rule book." I stared at him. "There is no truth or truth rule book! You literally just made it up!" He crossed his arms. "Well that rule will be in the first issue." I threw my hands up in defeat. "Fine. I've never had my first kiss, ok." He threw his fist in the air. "Haha! I knew it." He smiled. I looked down at my entangled hands. "Hey," He took his strong fingers and lifted my chin to look him directly in the eye. "It's nothing to be embarrassed about. It's just me, your best friend." I chuckled. "And best friends tell each other stuff like this and help them with them." I nodded, then narrowed my eyes. "Wait. How are you going to help me?" He just smiled, and stood up. "You'll see." He grabbed his coat and headed for the door. "You'll see."

What could go wrong?
Teen FictionKatie is not like the other girls in these books, who claim that they're not pretty but really are. She's just genuinely not good looking or special. Jake on the other hand is exactly like the stereo type. Cocky, egotistic, arrogant, shall I go on...
