First day of work... dang it.

Evan mumbled. Today was Evans first day working at the new coffee shop down the road, and to be honest, he wasn't exactly thrilled. He hated social interactions, but his mom said this will help him 'boost his confidence!' but he didn't think she would want to do it this way! He'd rather write letters to himself. Yeah, that seemed easier.

Evan really wanted to make a good impression on his boss and coworkers, so he aimed to dress a bit nicer.

A white polo, definitely, black slacks? No, too formal... Jeans?

Throwing on the jeans with the polo, he wasn't completely sure but knew it would work. I'm missing something... He thought while walking out the door. He suddenly felt a wet and spongy feeling under his feet, and realized-

SHOES! I NEED SHOES!

Bolting back into the house, he changed his socks and practically jumped into a pair of black Adidas.

Jesus, Evan! What's gotten into you today...

Going out the door, he yelled goodbye to his mom before realizing she had already left for work for the day. He yanked his bike out of the bike rack on the side of his house and rode to the coffee shop. He wasn't late, but he still went reasonably fast.

He couldn't see anybody in there at the time, but when he went into the back room, he saw a small group of people playing Go Fish.

"Uh, h-hi, I'm Ev- Evan and I work he-here? It's m-my first- it's my first d-day-"

"Woah, hold your horse's partner! Evan, was it?" Evan nodded, shaking a bit but trying to hide it.

"Hi, I'm Jared and this is Ray, but we call him Race. Spot is with Zoe and her band. The other four who work here are Jeremy, Michael, Marvin, and Walter, who is nicknamed Whizzer."

"R-Race, Jeremy, Mich-Michael, Marvin, and Wh-Whizzer? And you're Jared?"

"You got it!"

"Ok, c-cool!"

Maybe this won't be as bad as I thought...

"Now to clear up couples. Practically everyone here is dating each other. Marvin and Whizzer have been together for 9 months-"

"10 months!" One of them interrupted, rather agitated.

"9 months, it's been 9 for them. Michael and Jeremy have been together since Freshman year, Zoe is dating one of the girls in her band, Alana, Spot, and Race liked each other for years before finally admitting it and getting together 4 months ago. I'm ace/aro, practically forever alone."

"Oh, ok, that- that's cool."

"Yeea, until ya find Michael an' Jeremy ass-naked in a supply closet!" Race shouted mid- Go Fish. Michael and Jeremy turned a deep red, and Jeremy tried to make himself smaller by curling up in Michaels lap.

"We said we'd never talk about that again!" Michael half shouted, keeping his arms over Jeremy as if trying to protect him.

"Yeah yeah, whatevah." Race remarked. "Oh, Spot an' I, we's from Brooklyn. Got's a bit a an 'accent' the udda fellas say."

"Y-yeah, I was wondering ab-about that."

"Well if ya don know, now ya know, mistah President."

"Cool it with the references, Race, please," Whizzer begged.

Suddenly, Jared jumped up and clapped his hands, but only once.

"It's almost opening time, we should get our asses out there and do what we were born to do. Make coffee!" Jared shouted, almost trying to hype them up.

"Yeah... ok." Everyone said in a near unison.

All the workers walked out of the room about five minutes before opening, preparing coffee machines here and there. Evan got the rundown, and Jeremy gave Evan a paper with the drinks and how to make them. Looking out the window, He saw a tall boy, looks to be about senior year standing outside with his phone and wallet. The boy had fairly long hair, a black button-up under a different black jacket, with the same shade torn jeans. He looked somewhat asshole-ish, but if he wanted coffee he wanted coffee.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you, that boy over there is Connor Murphy. He looks like a dick, but he's moderately nice as long as you're nice to him. He's a regular, comes in Monday through Thursday, and he helps Zoe set up her soundboard for live music when she plays here. Oh, right, he's her brother." Jared explained rather fast, but Evan got it. Mostly.

Connor sauntered in and walked right up to Evan.

"Hi, you're new, aren't you?" Connor had a bit of a mischievous look on his face, he had a plan.

"U-uh, yeah..." Evan's face was bright red, a fire was burning on his face and butterflies were in his stomach.

This boy is a LOT cuter than I thought... Shoot.

"Can I have a mocha latte? I know a discount code for 20% off." Connor asked the fluster barista.

"U-uh, ok, what's- what's the discount code?" Evan hoped it was an actual code, not some cheesy word like 'butt' or 'secks'

To Evans surprise, Connor leaned over the counter and gave Evan a peck on the cheek.

"I can't give- can't give you a discount code f-for that..."

Connor did it again, and Evan repeated the statement. This repeated for a while, and after his fifth attempt, Evan remarked,

"How many t-times do I have to tell you, I'm not-I'm not giving you a discount on th-the coffee if you kiss me. Ok, that kiss w-wouldn't be bad but I'm not getting fired to-just to give you a-a 20% discount on a $3 m-mocha latte."

"But you said you wouldn't mind the kiss, right?" Connor had a plan, he had a good plan, and it was working.

"Y-yeah..." Evan really hoped this was going where he thought it was going.

"So, do you mind if I took you on a date, and showed you my best kisses?" Please, please say yes...

"Yeah, that-that sounds g-great!" Evan was practically a damn tomato at this point.

"Yay, how's tomorrow after work?" Connor and Evan were both very excited for the upcoming event, Evan was so excited in fact, that he totally forgot about Connors mocha and went to the back to tell someone what had happened.

"Hey, uh, Evan, was it? I still need my mocha!" Connor shouted, starting to laugh a bit at the end.

"O-oh yeah, sorry ab- sorry about that!" Evan gave Connor his mocha, in exchange for $3, and began to run to the back room when he was stopped by Jared, who spoke,

"One thing I forgot to tell you about Connor, he goes to your high school and really likes you."
