Way Out Of Trouble

I pretend I'm reading a novel and am surprised when he enters.

" Your mother told me what you did, Luna."

" I didn't do anything. I just got saved and she didn't let him finish explaining."

" Are you saying she lied for the first time?"

" No, father. I'm saying she didn't give Damon a chance to explain. Even Carlo said I was right."

" About him, the dinner will be in two hours. I hope you behave yourself. We invited the new family in this neighborhood to eat with us. Carlo says it's a guy, but I hope Carlo protects you, if necessary."

" Father, can I be excused for that? Besides, mom just does this dinners to try and get Carlo and me together. "

" She does do bold moves sometimes, but she only wants the best thing for you. I don't always agree with her, but she's right that your actions today were bad."

" At least let me explain."

" Fine, but hurry. I have to tell your angry mother what I chose to do."

" Well, she told the beginning, right?"

" Yes. She stop telling the story at the part after being attacked. She was furious and couldn't continue."

" Okay, so we ran to his home, since it was closer. Then we waited for them to stop looking, but I fell asleep. He asked for parents for their car and drove me home. He couldn't leave me there, since mother wasn't home yet and she still doesn't trust me with a key. So he took me back to his home and laid me on a guest room. In the morning, we ran to school. Carlo can explain the story as well, if you want. He knows how it happened and so does Damon, if you guys just give them a chance."

He is thinking the events over and simply sighs in the end. He stand up and looks at me. I use the way to get out of trouble and look at him, while making my eyes looks sad. He smiles after a while and ties to contain his anger.

" You need to stop using that trick, young lady."

" What do you mean? I feel sad because you and mother don't let me explain my actions."

" You're lucky that has always worked."

" So is my punishment over?"

" Yes, but you will have her watching you, when you come home for ten weeks. That's the least punishment I can think of."

" Thanks, dad. I'll start looking for the dress and see you at dinner."

" Okay, remember to not make your mother angry anymore."

" I won't."

He leaves and I burst out laughing. I then hurry to find something to ear. I have a feeling that I know the new family and my mother won't like the son at all.
